  1. Thanks for this info. I was living in Cliftonville (Margate) at the time and my German relatives, who were staying with us over Christmas, were scheduled to return home on either the 5th or 6th but we all woke up to an unexpected snowfall and they had to delay their trip. I was sixteen at the time and recall quite a significant amount of snow especially with us being so close to the seafront. Good to see how that cold spell came about! Cheers
  2. System seems to be pivoting a little off the Belgium coast. May creep towards us but will be much more marginal if it does affect us!
  3. I guess there's no signs of a stall and pivot across the south east corner now as I think one or two of the models were suggesting this last night.
  4. You sound pretty certain. Thought a couple of the 18z runs were suggesting that the system might pivot across the south east before clearing!
  5. I'm working in Margate today and the pink blobs have been passing on the radar for 15mins but nothing falling to the ground from what I can see!
  6. The app is showing rain all the way for next 12 hrs for my neck of the woods. Talk about chopping and changing!
  7. Was hoping to see improvements on the Met Office app for tonight/tomorrow but it's pretty poor tbh. 2 hrs of snow following 5 hrs of rain/sleet. As ever it takes a lot to go right in this corner of Kent and without an easterly component the odds are not looking too promising
  8. Those talking about temps not feeling low enough for snow need to remember that the precipitation when it arrives will drag these temps lower which will increase liklihood of white not wet
  9. Yep, a mile or so inland and a little elevation does seem to make quite a difference in these marginal situations. Not long to find out I guess.
  10. As a fellow resident in the bay I'm thinking falling snow Tues/Wednesday quite likely but lying snow much less so
  11. I think those of us in the south are well aware that any marginal set ups are likely to usually leave us on the wrong side but there are factors that suggest the situation could be more favourable, if you want snow falling at least, next week.
  12. Long time lurker from the South East (sorry, another one) here. While it's fairly quiet between runs I just wanted to thank you all for the time and effort you put in to your informative posts. A relatively dull winter looks to be coming to an end. As said before what can go wrong often does for the UK, even at 96hrs. Would it be fair to say that we can now be 75% confident of this cold (hopefully white) spell taking place? Cheers
  13. I spotted half a dozen flakes between Canterbury and home tonight. I'm counting it as another day of snowfall
