  1. Repeated hope followed by crushing disappointment. This must be what it is like to be a Tottenham fan!
  2. we're still in the game. Most likely won't amount to much but there's a chance. Will be nice to at least see some snow falling.
  3. waxing my sledge down as we speak... but also got the sun cream just in case!
  4. still quietly hopeful that we might see something. My kids follow my interest in the weather and have declared Thursday a "snow day" already. Hopefully it will come through for them - usually only takes a few flakes for the school to close anyway!
  5. Exactly. There has been significant disruption to flights, trains and ferries. Bridges closed causing traffic delays. Trees down causing localised disruption and no doubt damage to property. If all that had happened without the "unnecessary" warning the same people would be banging on about that!
  6. This! MetO are damned if they do and damned if they don't It is a "warning", not a guarantee of bad weather. Some people just can't get that into their heads!
  7. jeez, stay safe pal. Not too bad here, but I think I'm in a fairly sheltered location. The wind is howling down the chimney but it doesn't feel too bad outside
  8. West coasts and Ireland getting lashed. Not too bad here, which is more or less what they forecast I think
  9. Technically correct it would seem. Ireland, therefore not in the UK
  10. I think flight disruption and YouTube streams of aircraft landing in storms are one of the major features of the modern day storm following, as evidenced by the tens of thousands watching the streams at any one time. I think they are a relevant discussion point in a storm thread, although we should be careful not to overdo it.
  11. Yes, same. I'm sure your neighbours in the area will be much more clued up than us lot, but all the same I'll be thinking of you up there!
  12. As an aside, what an amazing place to live! What took you there?
  13. Live Flight Tracker - Real-Time Flight Tracker Map | Flightradar24 WWW.FLIGHTRADAR24.COM View flight EI553 from Lyon to Dublin on Flightradar24 Looks like it attempted the N/S runway but had to go around!
  14. saw one earlier from Stansted to Dublin which circled for a bit and then diverted to Manchester!
  15. He said he can only stream until 5pm, then it gets too dark
  16. Big Jet TV setting up at LHR - starts streaming at 1200 I think
  17. well this is probably a bit of an echo chamber in here which drives the "hype" but the average bear is probably pretty much oblivious to the "build up" to an event.
  18. Yeah, i've just made my bins "safe". Don't need the shame of my drinking and eating habits displayed for the entire street to see
  19. I have a family member who is scheduled to travel to Dover tomorrow evening in readiness for a channel crossing on Monday morning. Looks a bit optimistic at the moment!
  20. agree. I tend to avoid going out or driving in bad (windy) conditions. We don't usually get it too bad round here so it could be a big shock if it does pan out as forecast currently. Stay safe
  21. definitely keeping an eye on this one. If the current predictions firm up then we're looking at Amber warnings over a very large area. Perhaps Sunday evening into Monday will limit the risk for people being out and about. Strong gusty winds always remind me of this terrible incident which I witnessed the aftermath of 20 odd years ago when an Everton supporter was struck and killed by flying debris on his way to watch a match in Leicester.
