  1. keithlucky This is something that I will be keeping a close eye on. It would be nice for us to salvage something out of a split or a stratosphere warming. I wouldn't hold promises on this though buddy. The level of disappointment this winter I think quick frank people have had enough of. If it happens then all good .
  2. Wetterfrosch I did say if you get lucky hinting that it may not happen. I see parents of Flintshire cc school children kicking off this morning on bbc Wales news. I just had suspicions that this snow event would be disappointing for you guys up there as been the story of the winter so far for most of us.
  3. keithlucky strat warmings don't always guarantee a jackpot though. It can go the other way towards unusual warmth. We have just got to be wary that Europe is experiencing unusual mild temps at present. If cold comes off the US East Coast the Atlantic will keep coming regardless and meaningful cold will stay clear of our shores. So far the Met office is not giving us in the utility sector and highways teams anything interesting for the next 2 weeks at least. They state that things are looking to go more settled next week. But things can change rapidly with our climate. No one can really tell what's happening beyond 5 days. Its all to play for.
  4. Wetterfrosch Hey good luck for tomorrow's snow events up there mate . If you get lucky share us some photos from your beautiful part of the world. As for my area another yellow warning for a rain drenching is in force. I really cannot wait for spring to arrive. This dull muck has been endless. Luckily today we had a pause ⏸ . So far this winter I have managed to see and record a 1 cm dusting of snow from when I posted here back on the 8 Jan. Plus have recorded -7c and -6 so it's not all doom and gloom . I am hoping we get 1 last chance before spring takes hold of something good 🌨❄. That would be nice.
  5. Snowyowl9 I remember when we didn't get the warnings we get now. The following storms were real bad boys from late 80s/90s. Do these come to mind? . I was looking at my 50 years of family weather daily archives that goes back to the 70s. One of the storms in 1989 tore much of the roofing off the house, ripped up trees in the garden, flattened power lines. So much memories that from sitting in candle light with take aways from the chippie for a week without power and freezing temps. That did some big damage .
  6. DeepSnow I give up hope with it now tbh mate. Everytime there has been hints of snow or cold it has always been 10 days to 5 max then for it to just disappear. We have been so unlucky this year. I work in utilities with the highways and get their gritting reports from the met office and they don't suggest anything wintry will last long even for the next 10 days. Even utilities meto update was uninspiring. No mention of anything significant snow wise. Just brief snow for north possibly mid Wales then milder. I think met office outlook write up will change soon to disappoint. I think the mad thread will have to accept that this is a likely outcome sadly.
  7. Wow nearly 70mph winds and torrential rain. Floods on the roads and rising rivers. Surprising there are no warnings this evening. Seen named storms with less winds than this on an Amber lol
  8. Looks like a squall line trying to develop nr Swansea. Wind picking up suddenly rapidly after a brief pause.
  9. I have just been out and about and I managed to take a few night photos. Difficult to capture on this phone but nice to see abit of laying snow in the Cowbridge area after the earlier snowfall. I didn't expect that at all. It was just a little shame the Christmas lights were taken off the potted christmas tree yesterday. It would have been so nice to have taken a photo of the snow with the lights on
  10. A few flashes of lightning occurring in the Bristol Channel heading towards Minehead/Western super mare way. I have quite good views to it but its not very active. On and off. Probably about 5 or 6 flashes so far.
  11. Amber warning just issued by met office for strong winds for SW Wales tomorrow and parts of SW England. Possible 70mph gusts.
  12. I was just wondering the same thing. Radar looks clear atm. Looked on continental Europe and nothing heading up in our direction. Something invisible I guess on route or a development might occur
  13. Our nearly 30 days without rain is finally over. Rain coming down nicely. 20c from 25c earlier. The birds (blackbirds/robins) really loving it. Nature really needed this rain here. 🌧 . It has been one of the sunniest periods that I can remember here and its been amazing. I'm not jealous of everyone else getting sun/heat as we seriously did need the rain here. I hope you all enjoy what the weather throws at you this week . Best regards. L.
  14. Heavy snow falling here but not really settling other than a dusting. Temp at 0.6c. 20230311_074834.mp4
  15. It's snowing here too. A slight dusting but I wasn't expecting this tbh. Still nice to see before it changes back to rain or fizzles out
  16. Snow has returned and getting heavy. Some loss of snow cover from solar radiation but this should recover the loss. Hopefully precipitation will maintain its intensity.
  17. It's a beautiful morning out there for scenery and photos opportunities . The kids are going to love this. Dead on 0.0c atm outside.
  18. Very light snow here. Definitely is snow. Landing on my dark jumper in the light and melting. Breeze starting to pick up.
  19. Not bad in the end after a disappointing start . 2nd snow of the winter here after December snow ❄
  20. This snow will now add to colder days ahead. Possibly not even getting above freezing. Here are some traffic cam snaps atm ❄. Note Abercynon is green. Missed the precipitation.
  21. Well this is a pleasant surprise. About an inch now I would say. Still going after some sleet earlier ❄🌨
