  1. Morning all, beautiful day today, a milky sky, through which you can see contrails. I think with all the debate that went around yesterday, I will go back to my lurker status as in my opinion my sort of posts are the ones which are so problematical, unfortunately I have a great interest in the weather, but no technical ability, therefore my input could only be very limited, so I tried to add some general observations and humour, which in hindsight was inappropriate. I'm too old and frankly too busy with work to learn weather forecasting etc, so I will come on here and read JP great posts, and see the wonderful photos. Finally thanks for all your kind comments, I will post if there anything relevant to post. Have a good un.
  2. What a beautiful morning, a great to be alive morning, not a cloud in the sky, no wind not even a breeze, obviously cool out this morning as there's a slight frost on the car. How I envy you AS, how I miss that smell of new mown grass, the enthusiastic youngsters having their first bowl, the nervousness of their first catch, the sound of leather on willow. Those days are now long gone and I must admit to missing them. Your final line didn't read to well, I hope you will be back soon and that I misinterupted your meaning. BB unfortunately that's how I read it, will miss him a lot, as his writing ability and description of weather types was second to none. Well everyone one have a great long weekend for those that can.
  3. In derby this morning so won't post what its like out, other than the East Midlands airport is a busy place with planes taking off very early, must remind the secretary about that :-), have a great POETS day everyone.
  4. Morning all, cloudy and grey today, nothing exciting to report today, other than going up north, for 3 meetings today and 1 tomorrow, so hopefully a POETS day tomorrow. Hope everyone's well and have a great one. As it gets lighter I have noticed a few raindrops on the window, bit of a surprise.
  5. Just a quick update on my previous post, the hero who preformed the immediate CPR was a fireman who was sitting two rows behind the victim, he was replaced by the medical team within minutes of the heart attacked occurring, and it appears that the victim is recovering well in hospital, without the fireman's immediate and prompt response then the outcome would have been different. The fireman is such a modest individual who is embarrassed by the number of posts congratulating him, he reckon's he was just doing his job. So nice that there are these sorts of people about, especially when you think its those first few seconds / minutes that is the difference between life and death. Nice and sunny in horrible Harlow, have a good afternoon. Edit Unbelievably this was the second time in 6 months this has occurred at Charlton, the time before the man collapsed in the toilet and 2 fireman revived him along with the medical staff. Think if you going to have a heart attack, a football ground seems the place to do it. Nieces names are Lillian and a Poppy. Shower clouds appear to be building now, in dirty Dartford, I get around don't i.
  6. Good morning everyone, one word describes the weather today and that is foggy, nothing more to say as I can't see very far. I don't normally talk about football on here for obvious reasons, its a weather site, but yesterday I witness the high and lows, directly opposite where I sit, we unfortunately witness something that has changed my opinion of people in general, some poor man had a serious heart attack, you could tell he was in a very poor way, by the reactions of the people around him. This hero of a steward who went to a game of football to help control the crowd and have a laugh with the crowd, suddenly had a man laying on the floor whose heart had stopped, without thought, all his training leapt into action and he commenced CPR, apparently 3 times he got this poor blokes heart working after it stopped, the whole team of St. John's, stewards etc where wonderful, but you sir, whoever you where, you where magnificent, you went to control the crowd and you ended up saving a life, not a bad nights work. The crowd was muted as this drama unfolded, and the ambulance crew arrived, they worked on the poor bloke for a further 20 minutes before taking him to hospital, where his condition was given as serious. I wish you luck and thank the steward for his great professionalism. The result of the game was an irrelevance. Also during the same game I become an uncle for the 5th and 6th time to identical twin girls, total combined weight of 10lb 5ozs, if they take after their mothers they will be the most beautiful girls in the world, if they take after their father, then well how can you put it, I know, they will have a nice personality, I wish you both great joy, and enjoy this wonderful world, and your wonderful birth place of Jersey. Bit off topic for which I apologise, but it's still foggy out, have a great day. Thanks bb, still seems to be good news on the gent who received CPR, it was an emotional day yesterday, and yes things do seem to happen to me and my family, they always have, reminds me of that old saying "I never had a car accident, but I seen a lot". I do sometimes think that at my age, I would like a quieter life, but what could I write about on here :-)
  7. Just driven back from Heathrow to dirty Dartford, there where some really heavy showers around Heathrow and especially the new services (chobham?) but from there on round weather just got better and better, now in dirty Dartford, suns almost out, wind picked up a bit since this morning. Interesting meeting first time I met a Vice President of a large American company, seemed a really nice bloke, new his product and listened to my concerns and promised to incorporate them in future designs, shame some of the British manufactures don't listen, mind you as they say the proof of the pudding will be in the eating. What happened to the traffic on the m25 done the trip both ways in an hour in each direction, unbelievable, must be the tube strike?
  8. Morning all, hope everyone well, weather same as yesterday, dull and grey only slight difference is a hint of mist and hardly any wind. Something different for me today, off to Heathrow to have a meeting with some American business men before they fly off to South Africa, last time flight delays prevented it happening. Might not be on to much more this week as going away up north, sounds like I might miss some storm which will be a shame, have a good 'un and enjoy yourselves.
  9. Hope everybody is feeling well, pleased to say that the misses foot improved slightly as they day went on, so she managed to produce a nice Sunday roast. A grey old morning, think we might had some drizzle during the night, but weather ain't looking very promising at the moment, seems a tad breezy out. Dentist then Harlow office today, got a busy week ahead, with many meetings and a second interview, and plenty of driving. Hope you all have a good one.
  10. Morning all, hope everyone is well, football yesterday well what can you say other than I predictive the result correctly so reverse psychology didn't work. Grey old morning this morning had hoped to have a trip out to Broadstairs today, but her indoors has gone down with an injury, she was being lazy yesterday whilst I was suffering at football, sitting with her legs dangling over the side of the armchair (despite moaning at me for doing this) got up, her leg had gone to sleep, fell over and badly twisted her ankle. Talk about playing on her injury she couldn't cook tea last night, when I pointed out she never does as I always do it on a Saturday, she got stroppy and refused to get the wine out the fridge. Think its going to be a battle of wills today, don't like her being injured as that my job, I'm known as delicate grandad, and more importantly whose going to cook Sunday lunch? Clouded over now and a few drops of drizzly rain on the windows. Hope you have a good Sunday and can enjoy it, think I might go out and buy some frozen peas for someone's ankle. Edit the moaning has already started, honestly I was just trying to be nice, I thought as she hobbled down the stairs, I would make her a tea, what could be nicer? How did I know that when I turned around the blind corner from the kitchen into the living room, she would be seating there with her bad foot outstretched, thus tripping me, with her mouthing off torrents of foul laungage. Anyone know how to get tea out of the carpet:-( not a good start to a Sunday, oh and it's all my fault. Have a nice day I ain't. Yet another edit, yes Jax she does, and the feeling is mutual, we have known each other for 40 years come February 21st 2015 at 7:30pm, (think someone may have made an impression) I know I'm unfair to her, but that's just me :-)
  11. A wet start in Dartford, grey and horrible, got food shopping this morning then off to the valley with my boy and surprisingly his girl friend, no doubt another defeat, but if other lose as well then safety and rebuilding will be imminent. Think I got a free day tomorrow, so if weather nice might suggest a run out to Broadstairs, love that place. Well let's hope the weather cheers up, sun come out and a few storm are set off (after end of football). Have a good weekend and I hope numpty and everyone else stays fit and well.
  12. Told you AS, weather today was perfect for a drive through dirty Dartford, dull, dreary, damp, drizzly, dismal and doggy (well foggy but I'm sure you see where I was coming from) also AS the traffic jam for the bridge was only around the 7 mile mark when I come through from my jolly saunter up to the dizzy heights of Peterborough, it drizzled all the way up and back. Have a great weekend everyone and good luck to Daniel tomorrow, hope you equal our result.
  13. Morning all, hope you are all well, certainly a dull old day here in dreary Dartford. No rain as yet, but it got the look of rain, think there could be something in the storms forecast for later today. Off to our Peterborough office for a one o'clock meeting, must be getting old agreeing to that on a Friday, hope everyone has a good POETS day today, and for those of us who got to use the Dartford bridge let's hope its clear tonight. Have a good one.
  14. That mucked up my nice VIP day out, accident on the M1 which shut it north bound for 21/2 hours, so it only took me 31/2 to do a journey fro dirty Dartford to junction 9 of the M1 and back to horrible Harlow, where im now stuck, thinking what have I got to do, hate that normally got my whole planned out. Oh, I feel sorry for those involved and off course my adoring fans :-) whose wait will be in vain. Perhaps being a VIP might have gone to my head. Can confirm there's weather about today, looked some spectacular sky scapes as I was seat stationery, fairly warm and not to be bad.
  15. Morning all, not to bad out there today, looked liked it rain out there last night, would say about 70% cloud cover! which appears to be slowly decreasing so hopefully a nice day. Off to Milton Keynes today, not sure why but agreed to go to an official opening of a suppliers factory today, apparently I'm a VIP, told the wife and she laughed :-(, we even got nibbles laid on. Oh well I suppose it will make a change from work. Have a good day everyone, I must admit I'm not certain about mine today.
  16. BJ Dartford is decorated for St George's day, load of flags throughout what's left of the high street. Really enjoyed Monday results as there's a lot of rivalry between the two clubs. Lovely day in horrible Harlow, but just off to Hatfield so let's hope the weather stays fair for my 15 mile cross country journey. Interview was interesting nice to meet someone young and technical, passed my question with flying colours.
  17. Morning all, lovely morning, although I think it might be cool out, as condensation on inside of windows, which is normally a sign. Interviewing today, for what could be a key position within the company, hope to hear good news today of a nice order, which will make this position viable, also we are about to take on another engineer, so things are booming, in Harlow. Got to get in early for the interview so no time today for any dribble from me, but just like to wish you all a happy St. George's day, go out and enjoy it, Dartford is being patriotic and got the flags out, think if I get the time then I will celebrate with a nice pint of bitter tonight. Have a great day everyone and don't sleigh to many dragons :-) On this day- "Remember that you are an Englishman, and have consequently won first prize in the lottery of life" Cecil Rhodes
  18. Morning all, the rain is falling, it's obviously dull and dreary, like AS its back to work for most of us, and I have similar feeling as he does, although I have only been away from work for the 4 days. Got a busy week ahead, which is good but at least its a short week. Hope everyone has a good one.
  19. Biggin, you lot have done remarkably well, hate to say it but you certainly deserve to stay up, 5 wins on a trot take done doing, please don't tell any of my Charlton mates I was nice to you. Well done. Still raining in dirty Dartford, but as Biggins say life is good.
  20. What a glorious day, ended up going to Hastings, and despite all I said we bought something, I know, its do what the wife say, not what I do (say). A nice limp along the sea front with chips in our hands, then back to the car at 3:08, crying my eyes out at 3:09 when I turn the radio on and heard the football score, nearly got arrested on the M25 when our third broke the back of the net. Sorry still excited but why do our game always finish last. Weather was misty when we arrived, sun burnt that off pretty quick, sun come out for a while, then a heavy shower passed through, shame as it was a really nice day, apart from being ordered to buy something. When I started typing this it was raining hard in dirty Dartford.
  21. Morning all, hope everyone fit and well, awoke this Easter Monday to a foggy start that turned to mist and now is fog again, so if you are dirty Dartford suggest you be careful as the weather can't make its mind up. But I would suggest that it will eventually become a fairly nice day. Had a great day with the grandkids yesterday, lovely food, Easter egg hunt, an egg and spoon race (with bouncy rubber eggs, great fun, but granddad knee meant he couldn't take part) funny how the kids done it properly and the grown up all cheated like mad. Even got two Easter eggs, should have got 3 but the boy didn't realised that he should buy his mum and dad one, well that was his excuse. The youngest two grandkids arn't allowed chocolate as "its unnecessary" so during the Easter egg hunt they had their first taste of chocolate, not ever, but properly since Christmas, it was great to see the looks on their faces, in a way I agree with their parents view that its not necessary and as they haven't had it they don't miss it, just felt slightly sorry for them, we bought those two summer clothes whilst the other 2 grandkids had chocolate eggs. However one of the others over indulged in her eggs and had a very unfortunate accident in granddads car, which took the wife some time cleaning up. Hence my changing of mind on my daughters no chocolate theory. Think I got to build the garden furniture today and then get frustrated watching Geoff Stelling as the goals go in, thought a about going to the coast but don't really like driving on a bank holiday, hope everyone enjoy themselves today, have a great day.
  22. Morning everyone hope you are all well, grey dreary old morning this morning, no wind and it look like rain, which is a pity as the grand kids won't be able to go out and play at our family gathering today. Hope everyone is having a great Easter and enjoy what's left of it.
  23. Ah, but you missed the really important point, what are they like for watching the snow flakes? Seriously it would be lovely to cut the light pollution so that stars become visable. Been on a couple of cruises where on a few occasions they shut the bulk of the lights of, such a wonderful sight.Beautiful day, missed the sunrise as I slept in. Hope the rain on Sunday is delayed some more got a family day with our 4 grandkids, and it be nice if they could go outside and play, but by the sounds of it that won't happen. Start by yearly protest today (Easter and Christmas) refuse to go shopping other than Saturday, as I feel strongly that retail, distribution stores etc worker should get a couple of days off to see their families or if they want partake in the religious aspect of the holiday. Surely we don't need to shop 364 days per year? Trouble is with my protest nobody notices it. Have a great Easter everyone, forget the diet and enjoy your hot cross buns and Easter eggs.
  24. Morning all, lovely morning again, hopefully some good pictures today of what looks like a good sunrise, sky's all shades of blue with one pink cloud, slight frost hopefully not damaging to all the blossom that came out in the lst few weeks. Off to the office today for a meeting with a supplier, that won't go well, they are a multinational group, who in the past have treated us independents very well, but in the last few years the management has changed and the attitude towards us smaller companies have changed to be most unhelpful, I think its time for us to remind them of our requirements. For the first time ever the larger independents are meant to be getting together to discus this problem and to try to fathom out a way of bringing them back into line. Don't think we will achieve very much but it will be nice to meet up with a few foes and have a few beers and no doubt talk of the good old days, and they where good. Nowadays the youngster coming in just want to work, there's no play time or fun, the characters have all died off or left the industry, such a shame. Got some hard decisions to make, one of my designers has made an almighty cock up and we had to refuse an order because the design put forward would not have worked, this is the first time I ever been put in this position and I am fuming, well to be fair I'm a lot worse than that, he was gentlemanly enough to admit his mistake yesterday and offered his resignation, as my trust in his ability has fallen to nil, I suppose, I am going to have to accept it, shame as it really does affect our steady expansion. He's a nice bloke as well, but if you can't get the basics right, then there is something truly wrong. The alternative would be for me or someone else to check his work, but I think that we would both find that unacceptable, going to be a hard few days. Big game tonight v Barnsley, win tonight and we will be nearly safe from relegation, also my youngest birthday who will be 29 years old, where have those years gone, it was 29 years ago today, that me, my dearly loved and now departed brother and my next door neighbour (whose wife had given birth 2 days before) went down the pub and had a few beers to wet David's head, then finished up round the neighbours and drunk a bottle of whiskey, I still can remember the hang over to this day, but after to girls, to a have boy was something to celebrate and we did. He a Charlton fan and loves snow, and is a spitten image of me, he's turned into a lovely lad, who somehow got himself the most beautiful girlfriend who dosen't like football, so he will miss his first match tonight this season, shame but true love don't run smooth always. Have a great day everyone, think mine is going to be a hard one today, with very little pleasure, unless we win :-)
  25. Morning all, hope everyone is well, it was nice to see some more posters yesterday, great seeing all the photos. Had a busy old day weekend, mostly family stuff, managed to see all the kids and grand kids all in one weekend, next weekend seeing them all in one day as we have a family get together on Sunday, with and Easter egg hunt. Been in the wars a bit this weekend, hurt my shoulder playing with one of the grandkids on Saturday, forgot momentarily about not lifting funny how heavy a two year old is! Think the way to describe the pain was ouch x 100, nanny wasn't to impressed either, called me a silly old grandad. Then Sunday morning woke up with a throbbing left knee, got no idea how that occurred, but my little 3 year old granddaughter manage to hit ever time she went near it. I don't mind getting old, well to be honest you can't do anything about it, but gradual deterioration of my body is getting me down, and the comments from my kids don't help either, I'm now known as delicate granddad, that hurts. Beautiful morning again, 100% blue sky! although its seems very breezy out. Off to Peterborough office today, so a breakfast meeting in the little chef was hastily arranged over the weekend, short week this week with Easter, so for most a nice long weekend, but I do feel sorry for those who work in retail, why we can't shut the shops for a day a two over Easter and Christmas, I got no idea, surely it not that vital that shops have to be opened up all 4 days of Easters, can't it be arranged that at least one day could be put aside for religion and rest! Have a great day everyone.
