  1. Has there been many years when the second half of April has been colder than the first half? It has not actually been a cold month, 2021 was a lot colder.
  2. CryoraptorA303 It is interesting that although October is a warmer month than April, temperatures of over 20c are much more likely in April. I am not sure why this is? April has bigger extremes of hot and cold, and in October the temperature always seems to be between 12-17c 90% of the time.
  3. Has the hottest day of any year ever been in May? I think it would be almost impossible, even if the summer is very poor. I know the warmest day of any year has been in September a few times (including last year).
  4. CryoraptorA303 Do you think there will be another year when 30 degrees is not reached in the UK? Has been a long time since it last happened, and the chances of it happening will get even lower in future years (unless the AMOC shuts down).
  5. kold weather The long and extended autumn started at the end of summer 2022, and has continued since then, apart from a 10 day period of cold weather in December 2022, and the 2 very hot months last year (June and September).
  6. *Stormforce~beka* Would you be happy with cold weather if it came with blue skies? Apparently SAD is responsible for high suicide levels in Scandinavian countries.
  7. *Stormforce~beka* When there are above average temperatures in the winter the sky is always grey. Clear skies in the winter always bring cold weather. At least the evenings are getting lighter now.
  8. CryoraptorA303 Would 30°C feel warmer in May than it would in September? High temperatures in the Spring usually seem warmer that high temperatures in the Autumn. Even though 2018 was a very good summer it did not seem all that oppresive compared to the really hot days in 2019 and 2022.
  9. Summer8906Nothing from the 1960s in your list. I have just had a look at nw3weather.co.uk (a weather station in London), and I can see how bad those summers were. 1965 looks amazingly bad. 1969 is probably the best of a bad bunch.
  10. It was well before my time but the summer of 1949 seemed like a good one.
  11. I don't think any of the poor summers from 2007-2012 were as bad as the summers from 1985-1988.
  12. reefIf the 1973 summer would be much warmer now than it was then, what would the summer of 1976 have been like if it happened in the last 10 years?
  13. CryoraptorA303 Intersting that you have March 4.5C higher than November, when March is usually the colder month of the two.
  14. WYorksWeather Do you think 35C is possible in May?
  15. 1989 is probably the start of the transition to warmer weather in this country. There have been weeks and months of cold weather since 89, but it seems to be the end of a run of colder than average years going back to 1960 (maybe even before then). Probably the first warm summer in my lifetime that I can remember. Too young to remember 83 and 84.
