  1. I want May to be the hottest, driest and sunniest on record after this crap. Give us a break.
  2. Cold, dull and bleak it’ll be next week I reckon. Hopefully it’ll be a bit sunnier in the southwest under that northeasterly flow, where I’m going next week. Cold weather in spring isn’t unusual and is to be expected at times and I wouldn’t mind it if it came in between warm sunny spells. However it’s NEVER ENDING dross, be it mild wet and dull or cold dry and dull, that’s doing my head in!
  3. I feel like Spring 2024 (and February) is a duller version of 2014, especially this April being dull, very mild and fairly wet.
  4. Mostly dull but pleasant and calm today so far. Hoping for some sun later but this is the best we can get for now.
  5. *Stormforce~beka* C - temperate f - fully humid (no dry season) b - mild summer Köppen climate classification - Wikipedia EN.M.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  6. Thursday and Saturday have downgraded so now we only have Friday to look forward to. Also the GFS has flipped back to low pressure near us into FI so maybe time to write off April. Another month bites the dust.
  7. baddie That would be frustrating for us in the East Midlands. May 2023 had a lot of cold and foggy North Sea days with areas like Devon getting wall to wall sun. Even on the days when it was sunny here it wasn’t that warm as the breeze was suppressing the temperatures.
  8. It’s not just the rain that’s grim, it’s more just the grey skies day in day out. If it were very wet but came in thundery showers with intermittent sunshine and blue skies it wouldn’t be that bad. Even if it’s dry, it’s looking up at the endless sheet of slate that depresses me; August 2021 is an example of this.
  9. It’s really annoying how much better weather the rest of Europe (aside from most of Scandinavia) gets. The *climate* may be similar in most of north and west of Europe but the *weather* is so much better!
  10. SunSean Same here it’s completely overcast which completely overshadows the warmth. Was expecting sun today as well. What a bust.
  11. Quite a nice day here once the cloud broke at lunchtime. Not perfect but decent even with the wind. Tomorrow could be a great day if the low to west stalls a bit.
  12. In Absence of True Seasons Can’t say the same here. This is one of the earliest blooms/leaf outs I’ve ever seen. I’ve even seen ashes and oaks starting to leaf out.
  13. It’s been a lot nicer start to April than expected. Yesterday afternoon was nice and today has been too. The forecast looks milder as well.
  14. Catherine91 Yes it was much better last night and felt noticeably spring like
  15. The lighter hour didn’t feel that good today unfortunately being so dark and bleak out. Feels like midwinter.
  16. baddie There was some snow showers yesterday and Wednesday in the southwest though so I’m taking it as a win
  17. My predictions weren’t too far off
  18. Can’t wait for the April 2012 repeat to start next week Only this time we haven’t had a March 2012 before it so double the fun Anyone for a May 2021 repeat straight after?
  19. 2019, 2020 and 2022 were all summer-like so we were very lucky during that period. 2020 and 2022 both had sunny and warm Good Fridays to Easter Sundays and cooler Easter Mondays but in 2019 the warmth persisted into Easter Monday if I remember correctly.
  20. The trouble is with April 2021 is the damaging frosts to the spring blossoms and would be even more damaging this year if we were to have a repeat as Spring 2024 seems well ahead of schedule. Magnolias are fully out already here and would be blackened.
  21. Looks horrendous until the end of the run
  22. damianslaw Not if it’s a combination of April 2011, May 2020, June 2023, July 2018, August 2022, September 2023, October 2018, November 2010 and December 2010
  23. Summer8906 It’s a March Easter. They’re always terrible. 2018 (Good Friday, Holy Saturday were March), 2016, 2013 and 2008 were all cold and/or wet and miserable as far as I remember anyway.
  24. It’s nice out there for a change. First proper spring like afternoon.
  25. I’m going to say not yet but later in the century. We’ve only nudged 40C once and we’ve never had a 39C. It's difficult to know whether it was a trend setter or just a one off for now. It took 19 years to jump from 38C to 40C so perhaps 20 to 35 years to jump from 40C to 43C?
