  1. Snow here in Ipswich. My favourite kind of setup - cold air across warm sea, and one that actually brings some type of weather
  2. Was pretty epic here in east Ipswich. Never before have I seen a storm develop above in minutes and the entire sky turn grey from a few dark clouds and blue sky. Can’t think of a heavier 20 minute spell of rain I’ve ever witnessed at this location.
  3. I stopped counting at 59. 59 times the lightning symbol appeared on a met office forecast and failed to materialise. Same for tomorrow, however drive west along the A14 and you will witness heavy rain and lightning aplenty.
  4. Very true! After a few hot days thunderstorms here = sky turns grey, bit of drizzle and that’s it
  5. Hard to see anything but a half decent day today and this weekend. Normally thundery showers equals get the BBQ out as those showers never appear or appear in the form of light drizzle. We shall see
  6. Just get the continent cold enough, the wind in our favour and with an ever warming sea I believe one day this snow starved “cold rain” infested East Coast will get buried in an event like never before. I’m counting the days, bring it on! 2 years and 26 days since the last covering of snow
  7. Exactly, 6 degrees this afternoon and 5 degrees forecast for next Wednesday afternoon by MetOffice. Could be going from a week of cool breezy light rain showers with a touch of frost to another week exactly the same…
  8. One more week of this hideous snowless winter, the second in a row. Never before have I witnessed a couple of winters so inadequate at producing anything minutely wintery. A few frosts that took one look at the rising sun and melted is as close as it got and being too close to that “warm” sea of ours soon beefed temperatures up to 7 degrees. Thanks for the memories winter 22/23, unfortunately there weren’t none. Bring on non event Yellow Thunderstorm Warning Season!
  9. Headline in local newspaper: EADT “Severe cold weather warning issued for Suffolk as freezing conditions continue” Am I missing something? It’s just the met office forecast is for 7,8 & 9 degrees over the next few days and it rained yesterday and today. If I plan on leaving this town over the next few days, please other members of the SE & East Anglia community enlighten me are there biblical snow drifts out there? Just over 4 more weeks to go and it will be consecutive winters with no snow!
  10. On the last cover of snowfall nearly 2 years ago. Feb 9th 2021.
  11. A summary of my “cold spell”…Raining a week ago, raining in the week & raining now.
  12. Nice to join in on the white landscape finally this morning in the form of a blink and you’l miss it frost. No real change in the weather this weekend unfortunately…yet more rain! Thank goodness it will start getting lighter in the evening from next week and I can look forward to another summer full of yellow thunderstorm warnings that never materialise.
  13. What an abysmal rain spell this has been. Never has even felt "cold". A frost or 2 at night can still be observed between raging storms. Come back Atlantic all is forgiven, possibly the best chance of seeing white stuff in the form of hail. If there is talk of a warm give me strength because any warmer and the BBQ will be getting dusted off and the speedos will be out!
  14. Lovely photos everyone stay safe and enjoy! Would love to be sharing the same but unless pictures of rain and wet surfaces is your thing i’l leave it until the only thing that will bring snow here…THE BEAST
