  1. With Snow in Athens resulting in their Airport having to close, record breaking snow in USA, Canada, China, Southern Europe & Japan etc one has to wonder if we are getting our tadgers tugged by those that make a fortune by scaring us. The recent snow fall pictures from the Sahara Desert simply strengthens this claim. Here in Scotland there was Snow on the Hills last October, Heavy Snow in my garden in November, Christmas was lovely with snow also, but this January has been mild, and guess what? January can be mild it has been many times in the past. Decembers in the past have been windy and mild on occasion but not this year. Our life threatening Snow usually arrives Feb through March, with the odd heavy spell in April. Spring begins officially in May up here and to this we all look forward to, it is cold or freezing up here 6 months a year, I'm from Liss in Hampshire (Originally) and long for the days when I can get back home and to warmer climes.
  2. So far January has been great up here in Grantown on Spey, We said goodbye to our Snow but hello to Sunny days followed by hard Frosts, We have had a few mild days which is so welcome. But I'm not complacent as there is still a chunk of January to go, not forgetting Generals February, March and April. Looks as though there isn't going to be any extreme weather for at least a week, anyone got any updates re that ?
  3. It is odd to read that most of you suffer the no-snow blues so far this winter, but please think on the B side of this record, we, up here in Grantown on Spey are tired of snow and constant below zero nights, we long for some warmth or mild weather to give us a break if only for a few days. Last November we had really heavy snow, December too, currently this January so far has only had a few moderate falls but it continues to freeze up every night. We hold the UK record for the coldest night ever recorded, minus 27C and to this we do not want to see again. Every March we usually get yet another continuous very bad snow which kills many of the new Lambs, Should you love these conditions then why not plan a holiday for a week / month? I will never forget the day when it snowed heavily in June either.
