  1. I don’t mind the odd washout day, quite nice for sticking on a film and pigging out but tomorrow should be far less rainy; with a few brighter spells thrown in no sign of oppressive heat too which I’m happy about, anything below 25c suits me nicely any ideas on rainfall amounts in the area today? Must be 25-30mm. Not flooding levels by any means but plenty of heavier bursts. also, went to see Oppenheimer this eve. Well worth a watch; brilliant film
  2. I know 18-21c may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it. Really pleasant and comfortable for sleeping when out and about. Glad we’re getting a bit of respite on the rain now and the temperatures are remaining pleasant for the foreseeable! I’m sure we’ll get that hot spell yet in august
  3. Sharp flooding in south Bham last night. Couldn’t quite believe it but I’d been in kent all day and returned around 8. Seems much of it came in an hour or two as I was just arriving back and much of the area must’ve got an inch or so within an hour.
  4. Another few mm in the shower last night. 30 mins or so of quite intense precip. Was back in Stourbridge and certainly seemed quite intense for a time there
  5. Haha that’s the city my girlfriend is from! Funny how many people I hear that reference it when they mention Slovakia. A gateway to the mountains but I’ve been once in December and there was a nice amount of snow in the north. Far more than Bratislava got at the same time. I always expect the summer temperatures to be a few degrees higher than the midlands on average but it can really vary depending on the synoptic setup. A euro high and everything heats up widely above 30c fairly readily. How long did it take you to learn slovak as I find it tough! We’ve been together over two years but I still find it pretty difficult
  6. True, and the Danube has a certainly cooling effect in both cities. They both regularly exceed 30c though, far more than here. I’ve applied to a met job in Vienna though as I’m keen for a change! Have to say I think more of Vienna than I do Bratislava
  7. Have you been over in Bratislava for long? My girlfriends home city but it’s pretty oppressive in the summer from experience
  8. I’d say there was a bit more than that here still! Need a weather station to keep tabs on it all but certainly seemed to be quite a lot here! Would be interesting to see what Arnie Pie recorded and those in south Bham
  9. A fun day once again of weather and amazing cloudscapes. A few rumbles but didn’t see any fork lightning here just a few miles from the cricket. Heavy rain here once more!
  10. Yeah, I think the stuff currently on the south coast will fragment as it moves northwards and become more showery in nature, but it’ll bring more organised rain to parts of east anglia and the wash
  11. Had an intense shower here but no sferics. Looks like it’s all moving away to the north now
  12. A moderate shower fizzling out here with a few glimpses of brightness
  13. Well so it proved for birmingham at least, a far less active evening than yesterday. Still some nice interest for other areas though including that amazing cell that developed through Sandwell in towards Wolverhampton. A few flashes here but very little precip today; but glad others got a nice event
  14. I think more NNW-ly myself than NW-ly, and still think Cov to Leicester has the best chance. I think we could see some activity here, but the core energy seems further east to me.
