  1. Snow now easing off as front clears through. Fantastic hour or so of really heavy, settling snow. Just goes to show, no frost last night, woke up to 6c and light drizzle first thing and within minutes temperature had dropped 4-5c and snow settling almost straight away.
  2. In Newquay, Sleet and wet snow has now given way to just snow. 50p pence flakes. Settling on the grass quickly.
  3. Fantastic. Thank you very much Polar Maritime. If anyone has any book recommendations as well that would be very much appreciated as well.
  4. Hi guys, Please forgive me if this has been posted into the wrong area of the forum! Over the last few years I have been looking at the models (GFS, UKMO, ECMWF) fairly frequently and have been able to gather a basic understanding of what each chart is displaying. I really want to develop my knowledge and my understanding of each specific chart so I can form a more detailed evaluation of what the weather has in hold for us. I was wondering if anyone on here has any recommendations of any books or websites that may help me with this? The information I need may even be on here and I am just rubbish at finding it! As I said, I only have a basic understanding of charts at the moment so I am not looking for anything to advanced. I have recently joined the Royal Navy and am looking at a career as a meteorologist specialist so any help would be very much appreciated! Kind regards, Joe
  5. Latest run from the 06Z GFS shows the South of the UK hanging onto some decent weather into next weekend. Seems to be a continuing trend from the last set of runs from the GFS that has leaned away from bringing in autumn just yet.
  6. Hi guys. Been on here for years but rarely post. Whilst during my time on here I have learnt to read the models, understanding what weather to expect I struggle with understanding what cloud cover i should experience for my location. This week in Cornwall has been dogged by cloud, almost pea soup conditions at time with really misty periods. Is there anywhere that I can look to understand what conditions bring what cloud cover to certain areas? Looking at the models today I am really looking forward to some fine settled weather down here in Cornwall next week. Working in the surfing industry and relying 100% on tourism we certainly need it!
  7. Yep, still snowing hard in hereford!! Could have a good few inches by tomorrow!!!
  8. Been snowing in hereford now for the last hour or so. As i type it is now moderate to heavy and judging by the radar it looks fairly set in!! Surfs Up (hereford)
  9. Are the showers due to head this direction all night?
  10. People really need to stop fretting about snow not settling on wet surfaces. In the event that heavey snow does happen it should have no problem settling. Yesterday i had heavy rain for 2 hours followed by heavy snow for 10 mins. I think it took roughly 30seconds till it started lying on all surfaces.
  11. The PPN has stopped its forward march, Seems to have stalled. Can feel my confidence draining!! surfs up
  12. Temp has slightly risen over last hour or so, up to 1.2c with a dew point of -0.8c. This looks like if all things come together then it maybe time for hereford to get in on the action!!
  13. What the hell guys! the ppn is moving NW!! Not hard to tell by looking at radar! Everyone needs 2 chill!!
  14. Regarding the ppn in the south, This is now clearly shifting in more on a NW movement. People need to stay calm.....its coming!!
