  1. Still extremely gusty and throwing it down in Cheshire. Our road (and many others) are flooded, trains cancelled, bird feeder down (it survived the last 2!) and apart from the fact that we still have power (lost it for hours on Friday), it feels worse than Friday's amber warning! Temperature is dropping away now too.... ETA checked the weather station earlier to find the rainfall isn't working... no way am I climbing a pole to fix that!!!
  2. Just had the squall line through in Cheshire.... amazingly heavy rain and gusty wind, temperature and pressure dropped away. My brother did part of his PhD on this!
  3. Total saddo replying to my own post but we're now ready to rock.... set up at a height of about 2.5m (yeah, I know it's not high enough) near to a low hedge with open fields on one side, no trees for at least 20m and buildings 40m. And the latest wind outside my kitchen in Cheshire East is.... 0 mph!!!
  4. Our Cheshire kids are annoyed because their Devon cousins all have school cancelled! Have just moved house and been inspired to set up the weather station in the back garden rather than unpacking the socks!
  5. BBC seems to think the area around the Cheshire Gap will have light rain and a fresh breeze tomorrow....!!!
  6. It takes me 15 minutes to drive to Macc from here - and we had absolutely nothing! Madness!
  7. I'm sure Backtrack offered to level off part of the pennines for us in return for beer...? It's mad that everywhere is completely covered and we didn't even have a dusting for the whole 48 hour snowfall!
  8. GOOD! I'm heading down to Kent to escape the 0.01mm snowdrifts that have plagued Knutsford since Friday!
  9. We finally have 1/2 a mm on the bonnet of the car! Hope it picks up a bit and by the morning if we scrape the cars, garden furniture and windowsills we might have enough for a whole snowball! Come on snow! I didn't wear my thermal socks today for nothing!
  10. Still absolutely nothing here! Where's the nearest place to knutsford that we can go to give the sledges a proper outing?
  11. Absolutely sodding nothing here too in Knutsford. A bit of snizzle, some sleet then nothing since about 8pm apart from a few flakes. It's dry and cold and I'm sulking!!!
  12. Light noisy sleet here. Bummer. Everything's wet and cold and windy. PS. How do we find the locations of those who haven't got their location in their profiles?
  13. Damn, us women have been rumbled! Does she try the 'I opened it to put in the cooking' one as well?
  14. I've just had to empty a wine bottle to rescue the only daffodil that's dared to come out in the garden! Will that do or do I have to venture to the freezing garage for the beer stash? Actually, if you just help me shift the Penines a bit to the right that would sort out future issues too...!
  15. If you can spare an inch or two I promise I'll share the snowball I've stashed in my freezer for the summer... Or some beer? PS. Snow's increasing here to just enough to settle briefly then melt in order to make the ground wet enough for any heavy stuff not to settle!
  16. I'd estimate about 10 here... flakes that is, not centimetres As Spike Milligan said: There are holes in the sky where the rain gets in but they're ever so small that's why rain is so thin. Something to think about when you're watching lampposts...
  17. But that one's not heading our way, is it? Looks like it's going to hit Wales and perhaps Liverpool if it carries on the same path...
  18. I gather the Pennines have taken a pasting with some drifts... http://www.flashbarstores.co.uk/
  19. After a night of sleet and now pathetic wet snow falling on wet ground, I demand a recount! But seriously, it'd better stall with a nice heavy bit over us please. My snow boots have only had a few outings this winter!
  20. Well that's the wrong time for the forum to go offline! Started to snow about half an hour ago here - very light and horizontal in the mad wind! Although the met office still says nothing but light sleet at 6pm tomorrow for us! ;-)
  21. Very windy now here - planes landing towards Manchester are going sideways! Met Office's auto-'no-snow-in-Knutsford'-bot has generated its 8pm output which says that we'll be dry until a 60% likely light snow shower at midday followed by a possible sleet shower at 6pm then dry until at least Tuesday. Wish they'd make their minds up!
