    He has been sick but is recovering. Should be back late June.

    He's been away filming a new TV series on walking which will be shown this autumn. Derek was not on holiday but away filming a TV series on walking which will shown this autumn. The recent snow will make for great viewing and scenery.

    The weather bulletin was short so much so that Claire Summers the newsreader could have read it out. Most of the programme was about the high cost of petrol and diesel fuel. We should have had other news and a longer weather bulletin!

    The forecast wasn't poor it was the duration. The producer cut Derek from 1.45 to 60 seconds to keep the programme on air! Derek is the programme sponge, often losing time rather than gaining it - which is a shame as the weather forecast is so important to people. However, that's the joys of live TV. You have to be flexible. A sense of humour helps too!
