  1. Lovely stuff here in Newark, coming down by the bucket load. Just starting to settle now. Will enjoy the next few hours - imagine we'll maintain this until mid afternoon before a gradual reversal of temps. 1.8C and dropping right now.
  2. ANYWEATHER Doesn't matter what they, nor the state write if the uneducated attempt to read/understand it! Ha.
  3. Neil Harris Anyone who mocks the MO for warnings that don't materialise are mocking their own stupidity. The warnings are about handling risk percentages & public safety. No more, no less. It's hilarious how many people misunderstand this basic concept. In marginal situations, the warnings are correct, regardless of outcome.
  4. Lisa Martin Fancy you to do OK still -temps will drop a degree or two within the next hour. Keep us updated!
  5. makelikeaturkey I think Mansfield/Nottingham will probably do best locally. Here in Newark I think we'll keep the snowfall till mid afternoon but I'm doubtful of accumulations here. Lacking just 100ft or so of elevation is going to hurt us. Going to be nice to see heavy fall though, even if it does just make puddles!!!! As for yourself, evaporative cooling might play a part as heavier stuff moves in within the hour. Let us know and good luck.
  6. Surprised to see it start as dry snow at this intensity, was expecting a horrid mix until the heavier PPN arrived around 7.30-8.00am.
  7. Could not be closer to the borderline, here in Newark! I expect snowfall fairly consistently throughout the day, but likely wet with accumulations unlikely. However, Mansfield for example, 20 miles away, will far exceed 5cm. Nevertheless, will be enjoyable to watch heavy falls albeit not settling. I'll take it.

  9. Must only be focusing on the likes of Lincoln Road, London Road, Bypass etc then. And even that is largely covered now I'm told. I'm not really moaning. Will be issues for rush hour though, right in the town centre (Church) the roads are under a reasonable, full blanket; so the residential streets and back roads a little further out the town centre will be worse affected.
  10. Good covering here in Newark in the last hour, Looks likely to continue for another couple, too Probably end up with 5cm or so I imagine. All surfaces including the main town roads are covered, so much for the gritters!
  11. Just down the road in Newark we already have a decent blanket on all surfaces including main roads - grit??? Looks like we might end up with 5cm or so.
  12. Light powdery snow falling here this morning, light showers feeding in. Little warm up for tomorrow. Feel the E Mids especially, but perhaps more widely, that we're in good shape.
