  1. Scorching sun. No worries about 35c + heatwaves then!
  2. Interesting start to the day - was -1.1c a short while ago with plenty of frost and ice after yesterday afternoons rain. Then a band of small showers popped up off the coast and moved in, causing freezing rain for a short period and the temp to shoot up to 1c in a matter of minutes! I could see and hear the ice melting off the gutters and dropping onto the conservatory roof below! In fact, it’s going up so fast my weather station graph can’t keep up with the change, but since starting writing this post, it’s now over 3c. One of the fastest temp rises I’ve ever seen! I’ll add a photo in a bit of the graph when it’s caught up, in the meantime this was outside just over an hour ago: And here is the graph:
  3. Doesn’t look that bad tomorrow with regard to the wind on the south coast, gusts not forecast to exceed 40mph so not even a proper windy day
  4. A much nicer day than forecast, mostly sunny up to mid/late afternoon with a high of 12.9c. Raining hard again now, 10.21mm today following 27.10mm yesterday.
  5. A rapid drop in temperature last night as the cold front with its associated squall line passed through at around 2am. Dropped from 10.4c at 1:54am to 7.4c at 2:04am and then 6.5c just another 10 minutes later - not bad! So jealous of the snow that’s going to fall elsewhere the next day or two. My poor leaky conservatory will turn into a sieve once again once the rain gets going.
  6. It was only meant to get down to 4c here overnight but the frost hollow effect is working well as it is -1.9c Looking round at local stations it’s very variable, several degrees above or below freezing depending on topography and a fair few -4c across rural Kent and Sussex!
  7. Really howling outside now and strongest gusts not yet reached us. MO has updated to say 2am will be the peak now (for my location) before falling away rapidly.
  8. If you put in the 5 day forecast for your area it shows you there’s a warning for each day and then click on it tells you it’s a wind warning. The amber for SE is a bit east of you. Your location: My location: Amber warning area:
  9. That soon changed early hours - it’s now 4c! Can hear the wind again blowing through the trees out the back and see the radar up north heralding in the new milder period. Ah well, onto the next chase in February?
  10. Not as cold here as it was Tuesday morning (-5.6c) as it’s currently down to -2.4c. Scanning round some of the weather stations in Scotland, I’ve seen lots below -10c and a few to -15c. Lowest one is -16c that I could find.
  11. Watching the showers come in from the NE now. If they can hold off for a couple of hours to give the DP to drop off again maybe we might see a flake or two. Some of the showers look pretty lively.
  12. Temp has shot up (to be fair, as predicted) so need to wait for it to drop again in the early hours as the wind goes back to the east. It was -1.9c at 8pm now it’s 3.7c. DP has levelled out around zero, hopefully that’ll stay below freezing at least.
  13. Or stood along the coast with our hoovers? Currently 2.1c and falling, DP is -2.7c and rising. Still frost in all the shady areas the sun didn’t get to today so the ground temp is still below freezing.
  14. Broken my cold record on my station here overnight! Forecast low was -2 but the lowest was a short while ago at -5.6c and is now -5.0c. Not bad for this locale! We have a small frost hollow effect here, being in a shallow dip, so there’s no wind at all. Up at my dad’s on the cliffs of Capel it’s not gotten below -4c as he’s not lost the breeze.
  15. Oh no! I imagine that’ll also be us on the south coast on Wednesday! Hoping we all get to see a bit of snow this week.
  16. I will take any crumb of hope so thank you This morning has started sunny and colder, currently coldest it’s been since midnight at -0.3c and a DP of -2.7c. Good luck today for any snow showers clipping those of you in Norfolk and Suffolk!
  17. I’ll take a 30% chance. Last Monday’s snow was lovely to see falling but I’d like to see a covering. Early February 2021 was last laying snowfall here, we had falling snow periodically from 7th - 11th February and snow on the ground until 14th. Not bad for far SE (though 2010 was better)
  18. Wasn’t it if they’re facing east we’re onto a winner? Fascinating weather watching at the moment. After Monday’s under forecasting of the snow, I’m interested to see where this all goes over the next week or two
  19. Also no frost here with the strong breeze - currently 0.7c but feeling much colder. I see there’s regional squabbling again in the model thread. Some saying it’s great at day 9 for snowmageddon (when will they learn) when M4 south is under rain. How they think it’s going to end that way I don’t know, let alone being so confident they start up with the “well it’s great for us” party. Edit: I note that when someone more southerly mentions it looks great for the north and they just hope it improves for south they still get shouted at!
