I am from Finland and I do remember it. I was on vacatation on Helsinki and it was just amazing, when I got out of the train, it was all silent everywhere. A bitter wind was blowing and it was -34 C. I was freezing, because being from Lapland it's usually a lot colder there but now the cold air had come to southern and eastern part of the country. It was 6 days that the temperature was below -30 C on south coast. It was below -30 C in Helsinki in not too long time ago, in January 2003, in Jyväskylä it was -40
