  1. Nice 2nd round of storms approaching Eastbourne and the far south east, absolute jackpot for you guys I ended up heading to devil's dyke which might just be my new favourite storm viewing location. Unfortunately the storms didn't get that close, but I still managed to capture a few bolts off in the distance. I'm now sat at the top of Portsdown hill, Just in case something develops near here but I'm not feeling that optimistic . Still all is not lost. They'll be more opportunities in the next couple of days
  2. Mitch the motorbike storm That's amazing Happy you got your storm buddy, I've been watching it from a distance. Not quite as good as what you're seeing but I'll take it. I'm heading back West now. Fingers crossed something develops that actually is worth filming
  3. *Stormforce~beka* I'm planning on heading east, just not sure exactly how for east, it all depends on what the radar is doing once I reach somewhere around Portsmouth, I should have set off earlier to be honest
  4. I might just head to Portadown hill, I have my eye on the main mass just east of the Cherbourg peninsula, let's see what it does when it properly dips it's toe in the channel. ChannelThunder I agree about the freshness to some degree, but the sky looks quite nice if you ask me. Granted there is a lot of high level cloud but I wouldn't write tonight off completely. Hope you get something bud, even if it's off the coast
  5. Mitch the motorbike storm If the latest UKv is correct, you should be in prime position just before it makes landfall, but as ever with events like this, things can change at the last minute. Good luck, I don't think I'll make it over that way in time, I'm hoping for further developments further west. Good luck everyone
  6. Two distinct pushes of activity showing on the latest UKV 15z, the first round of activity affects the southeast, bordering on Kent clipper territory, then a second push comes through around 4:00 a.m and looks quite impressive, affecting areas further west. I think I'll set off soon
  7. Mitch the motorbike storm For the south east that sounds about right, but the storms will still be some way off at that time.
  8. Mitch the motorbike storm I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, but it has to survive the crossing first, it will be interesting to see how it behaves
  9. Mitch the motorbike storm possibly, it might be worth looking at the wind direction near the surface, it probably aligns with the storms direction of travel, tonights storm should be moving almost directly North If you look at the 925 level on windy, it looks like it is being
  10. Flash bang flash bang etc I get ya. Desperation has definitely taken hold of me which is why am prepared to travel a few hours with the knowledge that I will probably be disappointed when it's all said and done. But there's worse ways to spend an evening than driving to an elevated location and waiting for the storms to make their appearance, and if they don't, there's always next time, whenever that will be. I just need to make sure not to pack the central southern storm shield in my suitcase when I travel to France in two weeks time
  11. Flash bang flash bang etc I'm going to wait until around 7 pm before heading out, hopefully the weekend getaway traffic will have died down by then. Are you not worried about being too far west if you base yourself at Waterlooville?
  12. Eagle Eye it's definitely looking like a late one isn't it. I think I might head towards Brighton and wait to see what happens, before making a last minute dash a more precise location once the radar starts to show the eventual outcome. I have to be back home for 7:30 in the morning so I don't want the storms to trigger too late. It's never easy in this country is it, what do the thunder gods want from us, a human sacrifice?
  13. Flash bang flash bang etc it is indeed, or is it? The 00z UKv has the main bulk of storms approaching the south coast just after midnight, so it might not be storm day after all Hopefully it's just a dodgy run and the storms fire much earlier, I have to be back home by a certain time to look after my daughter
  14. Arnie Pie congratulations on 15 years! It's crazy how quickly time flies isn't it. It's mostly clear down here on the south coast apart from some really high cloud but I'm pretty sure it's the tropospheric kind, but it is still a little too early to tell. For me it definitely feels like the season is very close to ending, and my motivation is definitely dwindling when it comes to staying up late for what is likely to be a less than optimal display. But it's been a decent year, which would probably have have been the best year for me personally if I'd been able to get out and photograph the June 29th display. The good news is that there is still some time for you and others in areas that are further north, let's just hope it's clear enough to be able to see the few displays that appear as the season comes to a close, good luck.
  15. It's looking quite promising from tomorrow into the weekend, just wondering how I'm going to squeeze in enough sleep as the 15z UKv showed 3 rounds of potential storms moving in around midnight on 3 consecutive nights starting form tomorrow evening. The 18z UKv is looking equally good for tomorrow evening, storms affecting southeastern ares at first, before more storms start to develop further west onto the early hours of Saturday morning. Still time for things to change but it's not a bad position to be in, I might head east tomorrow to be in a decent position for the first round of storms, then start heading back west, and if I'm lucky and the weather plays ball, I might be able to be in a decent position for the storms that are forecast to develop somewhere around the central South, an area that really deserves to be affected by a proper nighttime storm, it's long overdue! Good luck for tomorrow guys
