  1. Was woken here in South Manchester by lightening about 15 mins ago. Lay in bed watching with the curtains open and some cracking fork lightening getting closer by the second. Just started raining.
  2. I saw a faint flash about 15 minutes ago over towards Warrington but that's been it. Still crossing everything that we get something and soon. I need to take the tiddley peeps to dancing in an hour. Don't really want to be driving / walking in it.Ooh the rain has suddenly got a LOT heavier here..............................
  3. Really deep distant rumbles heard here in last 5 mins. Think they are a few miles to my west. Hoping not all passes west of Manchester. Rain just starting to pep up as I am typing.
  4. It's funny you should say about a low rumble. I have just nipped out to the shop and thought I was imagining it. I am in Stretford and we often get planes landing or taking off rumbling by but it wasn't that.Getting darker by the second here.
  5. Hi. I'm a lurker and read rather than post, but have just taken a piccie of the storm in north Manchester and wanted to share. This is the view from Stretford in South Manchester. Shame the storm didn't spark til it had passed us, but maybe later we will get lucky.ETA - Not sure why it is sideways. Apologies.

  7. No thunder but sky box picture has gone - good sign?
  8. Im in south Manc. Cloud of little interest at the moment coming over again from the south and gone VERY humid again in last 15 mins, but looking south cant see anything to get excited about tbh
  9. We must be on the edge of what you are getting here in Stretford. Just had a dribble of huge drops for about a minute and then it stopped.
  10. http://www.lccc.co.uk/weatherstation/ Web cam At OldTrafford cricket ground - can see what i think is the edge of the storm over Staffs at the moment. Think its going to miss us though.
  11. Can i ask about dew temps, air temp and t/storms? Whta is the optimum temps and how does it work? Here in Manchester it is 23.3C and dp of 13.5C and its so humid its stiffling. (says 54% but feels so much more to me) Sorry if i should have posted this elsewhere.
  12. http://www.lccc.co.uk/weatherstation/#hide_graphs Lancashire cricket clubs web cam (currently showing them setting up for Take Thats gig ) Will be a good view if we get any storms.
  13. The storm in Manchester is over STocKport. Its HUGE. I am in Stretford and i reckon it missed us by 5 miles. Can hear real deep long rumbles from it.
  14. Eased off here now - heading your way.
  15. This is exactly why i am trying to learn more about it - i love looking at lightening ... absolutely fascinating!! But storms fear me to death. I thought i was a bit weird trying to learn about it when it scares me to death lol
  16. Storms fascinate me but i am a bit of a wuss and no likey when i am on my own - other half at Donnington Download till tomorrow so i am secretly hoping no storms till he is home ...................... i have a cupboard too

  21. Am more of a lurker here but just been mooching the webcams and there are a few flakes starting to fall at liverpool dock - you have to look carefully though at the full size screen http://www.itvlocal.com/meridian/live/ Simone
  22. Hiya I have been a member for a while on here mainly for my fascination with thunderstorms, but very rarely posted as i have no real idea how the weather "works". Anyway my other half got me a weatherstation for xmas and i would like to understand more about reading the weather from it. Obviously i get temp, windspeed and the like but having googled Dewpoint and Wetbulb i got totally lost. Is there anywhere which explains "weather reading for dummies" that you can recommend please? It has to be in real english too if possible as i really dont undestand a lot of weather terms *hangs head in shame* Simone
  23. Thunderstorm in Manchester at 5pm - very loud but too light to see much lightning. Another one on its way by the looks and sounds of things
