  1. Been keeping a sneaky eye on it as well. Really have no right to expect anything but have hit the jackpot so far, so why Not?
  2. Not my picture but this is one of the roads around Canewdon, a few miles north of Southend. Many of the outlying villages in the area were cut off yesterday and overnight by snow drifts. Am very surprised we weren't in the amber warning area.
  3. If you click into the main news article it says on there. They updated in the last hour or so. I wondered if they were jumping the gun expecting met office to update.
  4. I have a go kart by comparison. Am not going anywhere! BBC website now saying an amber warning for London and South east although met office hasn't updated. Do you think they are assuming met office will issue warning soon?
  5. Some of the outlying villages in SE Essex have been virtually cut off this evening with abandoned vehicles and snow drifts blocking the roads. Getting light snow showers but the wind is very strong here in Canewdon. Had 5-6 inches already although we lost some in the sun this afternoon. Wondering how much more we might see. Could pass 2010 yet.
  6. Light snowfall in canewdon. Just watched that blob heading for us fizzle out as it hits land. What a waste
  7. A great day yesterday, finished with around 8cm on the ground, a little more on the cars and tables etc. Its thawing a little now but should still be a good amount on the ground by the end of the day
  8. Been snowing since this morning non-stop a good 4-5cm covering. Much improved on earlier in the week and still going wouldn't mind an increase in intensity just to bump up the totals but overall a good day and the little'un is happy
  9. Canewdons undersoil heating has finally given up. Settling on the gritted roads now and coming down quite steady.
  10. ??? - Is this not what you are after? Current alert level: Level 3 - Cold Weather Action Issued at: 0829 on Thu 17 Jan 2013 There is a 90% probability of severe cold weather/icy conditions/heavy snow between 0900 on Thursday and 0800 on Monday in parts of England. This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services. Please refer to the national Cold Weather Plan and your Trust's emergency plan for appropriate preventive action. Remaining very cold with icy conditions across all but the far southwest of England throughout the period. Temperatures will be close to average across Cornwall and west Devon for much of the period. A band of snow is expected to move across the whole country on Friday, bringing widespread snow accumulations and leaving icy conditions to all areas excluding western Cornwall. Further snow showers are expected on Saturday away from the southwest, particularly along east coast areas, retaining the risk of ice. Lighter snow showers on Sunday midlands northwards. Strong winds at times across the country will make it feel bitterly cold. An update will be issued when the alert level changes in any region. Alerts are issued once a day by 0900 if required and are not subject to amendment in between standard issue times. Note that the details of the forecast weather are valid at the time of issue but may change over the period that an alert remains in force. These details will not be updated here unless the alert level also changes, the latest forecast details can be obtained at the following link: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/#?tab=map
  11. woke up to wow.... 0.5cm snow. Its still snowing here but anything more I get will just be a bonus now... It seems we've missed out this time in SE Essex, still can't see Sunday being big either more of the same for us I feel.
  12. uh oh the tv's off which means im gonna scram and try to engineer a toilet break in the middle of the night. Still snowing - nothing significant but hopefully we'll pick something off the channel....
  13. Well i would say you're beating us slightly here, paths are covered but not the roads and grass still looks a little patchy. I wouldnt mind driving out to wallasea i'm sure its getting the heavier stuff there but i dont think the missus would appreciate...
  14. I wouldn't whip the snowboots out just yet, but at least we have seen something from todays "event". A million times better than earlier today. Now lets see some settling and a hit off the channel please.
