  1. Cheers John and Paul. Absolutely gutted tbh.
  2. Ok Tour 1, a mixture of green and various frightened parties. I had a terrible fear of lightning myself cookie when i was younger, nothing like a box of pringles, a sunbed and several local Majorca brew and a storm to overcome the fear and i was cured. Now i thrive on it and pringles too. The flying end of things is no bother. Think of it as a big coach with wings and lovely people serving you bevies. I flew through a storm over the Bay of Biscay on the way home from the Canary Is. and what an experience that was, though i was the only one YeeHaw'ing on the plane
  3. Tour 1 has turned green, everyone is Irish
  4. Good display from Dublin also. http://www.irelandsweather.com/forum/index.php?topic=262.0 We even have a timelapse of it also http://www.irelandsweather.com/forum/index.php?topic=261.0
  5. You can join the club Harry, 1/2's can be Irish too. Thats 2 1/2 so. More Irish roots available on Tour 1 for the rest of the participants
  6. Oh will you look at that, there's two Irish lads on the first tour.
  7. Hi there, My name is Karl and i am the admin for the Ireland Weather Network. I have created a network for personal weather stations around the country onto a mesomap. We be glad if you could join us in signing up and including your station onto the mesomap. There is a good Irish contingint who post on NW be interested http://www.irelandsweather.com/ Regards Karl.
  8. Well done Paul and the rest of the team. I wouldnt be much of an LRF fan but as has been mentioned here it gives an insight of what can be expected to a certain degree. The UK MetO forecasted a couple of years back a colder winter against the mild winters we have been having and it delivered a colder winter,(but forecasted a warmer than avg summer in march2007,i will stop there)unfortunately nowadays ,winter doesnt neccessarily bring us snow chaos as it use too and prolonged cold snaps and i think by now some/maybe most people are fed up and just want to hear the word "COLD" throughout when it comes to this time of year (me too ) but myself too experienced in this field to know exactly whats needed to fall into place to put it bluntly and in laymans terms. The winter discussion forecast is a good addition to either add to someones already misfortune or exuberance depending on what they like to read or how its read but is clearly worded on how the source of our weather is dictated from further afield. Good Work
  9. lol John, yep im scarred for life myself with this one too.I remember one of the bread trucks couldn reach the shopping centre close to me and selling the bread at the side of the road.Myself and the brother took a trip on our makeshift sledge to buy some.Funny thing is i drive down the same road to work every morning where that truck was stranded and a rye smile always comes over me followed by sadness of nearly once in a lifetime event.Never see the likes of it again.
  10. 27th Dec 2000 was close albeit the wrong side of christmas but felt festive anyhow.Clump of showers merged and pushed across from Galway bay in the west of Ireland and dumped 2" of snow on me here in Dublin.Wasn't forecast and which made it all the better. 2004,only a slight dusting christmas morning but was a nice to see.Have yet to see a decent Dublin white christmas with >1cm in my 30 plus years existence on this island.
  11. Yep Kippure south Dublin got most of the rain with incessant lightning for over a 24hr peroid.I was fortunate to be in Dunlaoighre early that day looking across the bay with spectacualar displays of lightning. A cold NE wind was blowing over a relatively warm Irish sea which create very unstable conditions only 15miles off the coast. The radar showed the storms originated in the same spot and wind blew them across land continuously.Later on that day you could see explosive CBs moving over the region when i travelled north of Dublin and basically around the drogheda area was in a clear slot and dry.
  12. Only 17.3mm since midnight here and just under 25mm since the event began.Dublin ap has just exceeded an inch in the 24hr peroid.Your total seems to be highest in the county.Where bouts are you in Dublin? Are you near the mountains by any chance?.The totals down there seem to be highest alright for obvious topography reasons.
  13. Rob McElwee is a brilliant forecaster. He forecasts the weather and tutors the novice when he is forecasting on air.He describes how a particular event will take place etc in a few short sentences.Straight and to the point. He be one to get you into meterology by just listening to him just like John Kettley was. With Dan,looks like a decent fellow but a bit eccentric for my liking. The lunchtime forecasts lately when he is forecasting in your unfortunate floods over there presently,i was waiting to see if a 4x4 was going pass him and create a tsunami and drench him.I wonder how he would react to that.
  14. No lightning in the area at the time or close by in fact.It appears to be a methane explosion of some description as it was also heard in Swords,co Dublin too about 6-7miles away. There is a tight lid on this for some reason.
  15. Are you sure the bataries are not dead. Both the lithuim and cr batt.
