  1. Just had a couple of heavy snow showers in Lichfield. The radar looks promising for the next few hours. Fingers crossed!!
  2. Snowing heavily in Lichfield now for 30 mins. Good covering on all surfaces!
  3. Hi. I'm looking for the member list but can't find it. I want to search for a member whose name I can't remember but I'll know it when I see it! How do I do this now? Cheers. P.S. Also really liking the Christmas skin!
  4. Snowing here in Lichfield. Great news as I thought it would start as rain/sleet. Bodes well for later!
  5. Hi PG. Yes I agree! I'm sure we'll both remember this in years to come! (If I forget - please remind me!) TCBTS
  6. Enjoy Blizzards!!! Still coming down here moderately. TCBST
  7. Still snowing here moderately. Had 12.5cm on friday which had reduced to 9.5cm this morning on settling/thawing yesterday. Now we're up to 14cm depth and that's excluding snow melt so fantastic! One delighted snow fan!!! TCBST
  8. 12cm of level snow here on the patio table, much deeper on the grass though (not measured). Snow has eased a bit but still moderate. Radar not looking so good now as earlier. Still really pleased with the amount though. Roads around Lichfield gridlocked! TCBTS
  9. Great isn't it!? Now 9cm level snow on our patio table. That radar sweet spot hasn't moved from over us for an hour or so now. Best snow for years!! Yayyyyy! TCBTS
  10. Been snowing heavily in Lichfield since 9am and now it's a complete whiteout, big flakes as well. Just measured the snow depth and it's 7cm. Eldest daughters school is closing at 10.45am. Best snowfall since Dec 2010! Bring it on! Looking at the radar we're right in the sweet spot. Fantastic! TCBTS
  11. Today should really help keep the CET suppressed if our coniditions here in South Staffs are replicated elsewhere. Currently the mean here for today should come in at around -7c, a truly remarkable figure. What would be really interesting would be if we could go the entire month without a single daily CET exceeding 5.1c (monthly average CET for Dec). Now that WOULD be impressive!! Might be worth a flutter.
  12. Let's hope so as this winter has given us nothing so far. The Lichfield snow shield has scuppered our chances yet again!!
  13. You called??!! Light rain here. Temps falling away. Only rained lightly since midday so if it does snow heavily it should settle ok.
  14. I'm reasonably confident that I'll see a good spell of snow from this but I'm hoping that I don't get too much rain beforehand. My location could be quite good in this kind of setup. According to the 06z GFS by 6.00pm the precipitation should be falling as snow. Fingers crossed! The Peak District could get a pasting from this as well. Got a nice covering of snow yesterday evening which gives me confidence that this will be just the right side of marginal.
  15. Does anybody know if there'll be any snow in the Lichfield/South Staffs area as we've had a paltry 1cm and it stopped snowing about an hour ago? Forecaster's got it horribly wrong for here but my loss appears to be someone else's gain :o
  16. Very disappointed. I thought we were supposed to be the worst hit area? We have 1cm snow! Glad at least some of you have got decent falls though
  17. Well according to that map Lichfield is right in the middle of the snow region, NOT the wintry mix region so here's hoping they're right Not sure I trust that though, after they forecast snow for places on Monday that ended up as rain. Fingers crossed!
  18. You are marginally further West than me and having now viewed the 06z run we both could be in with a bit of a pasting. Everything is marginally further East which can only be good for us. GFS has temps at midday of 0c so a good chance of snow. All very knife-edge however and I still expect changes even at this late stage! It'll end up being a nowcast, with the most accurate forecast being the head out of the window. Now that I already have no nails left to bite, what next??
  19. Hmmmmm..........I'm thinking I may just be on the wrong side of marginal for my location, being 11 miles NE of Brum. More likely a snow to rain event for me Still the possibility of it turning back to snow later as the cold air digs in, but only if there's any precipitation left!
  20. Yeh, that looks about right. We're 11 miles NE of Brum which would put us in the red section. Snow is accumulating rapidly at the moment, an extra 2cms since 3pm! Fab!
  21. Snow has now become heavier and is now almost horizontal giving blizzard-like conditions. Looks like we've had another 1cm in the last hour so now 8cm in total
  22. Moderate snow now topping up our snow depth, settling nicely. I've got a good feeling about this.......
  23. Me too! I dragged our 4 year old to the supermarket (just for a paper) and made her walk the long way round just so I could play in the snow
