  1. Upland roads in pennine Co durham are now extremely hazardous due to fresh snow and existing snow blowing - pls keep away. We have just had to airlift 6 motorists from the Teesdale area. I am Team Leader - Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team
  2. Just come off fells in west co durham - a good 2 - 3 inches of snow lying above 650m on north facing slopes her a pic - snow in co durham today
  3. The usual east /west elevation divide in the NE - head up to the Durham Dales and High Pennine and there is more snow than has been seen for many years, and it will most likley be around for some weeks yet.
  4. mark whiteout condtions prevailed through to 04.00 hrs Tuesday - RAF seaking aborted on approach and it was left to search dogs to head off to High Cup Nick reporting very diff conditons . Conditons last night (wed) again severe whilst training on Tees/Wear watershed.
  5. The road was ploughed out in the early hours of Tuesday during a mountain rescue operation I was involved with - snow lay 4 - 5ft deep at the stage.

  7. Hillwalking this pm in Co Durham - on Burnhope Seat at 740m asl - heavy snow for 2 hours.
  8. Just returned from hillwalking in upper Teedsale Co Durham - heavy snow showers this morning and lying above 675 m on Meldon Hill until lunchtime then it thawed.
  9. no it is not - it is well inside Cumbria.
