  1. A dull day today with loads of cloud. On my way home it started to sleet and in the distance I could see the sun setting. Realising this was the back of the cold front, and a dmned sight colder it was, I waited it out and was shown a real treat of a sunset.
  2. Havent posted on here in a while as the storm season has yet to kick off and moreover have never noticed this very nice little corner of the site. Here are a few contributions taken a couple of years back. A couple have been posted before but it cant hurt to show them again :o
  3. I have moved this post to the right place. I had lightning pics and you wanted clouds :o
  4. Surely this depends on the human being in question?
  5. Well I think its safe to say then that it was mindless pub talk. As i said it seemed somewhat crazy to me, and its reassuring to know that the sun is in fact more capable of heating this planet than a tipsy pub goer gives it credit for
  6. During a conversation with a friend, the point was raised that per square inch, the human body actually emits more heat than that of the surace of the sun and that it is merely the size of the sun in comparison that allows it to generate such a substatial output of heat. I havent got a clue where this was heard, but is there actually any truth in this? It sounds a tad crazy that a wee blob of ooze and bones can generate heat more efficiently than a massive ball of burning hydrogen, but then again what do I know? Thanks
  7. This was in 2006 I think. Moved up from the south (The lights you can see in the very background are on the Isle of Wight) and this photo was taken about 9pm. An epic storm with constant lightning. By far the most spectacular storm I have ever seen in this country. Oh and if anyone else remembers this storm and has any pictures it would be great to see them, although I know i was a bit sketchy on the details but if you saw the storm I think you would remember it
  8. What do you guys make of those massive white lumps sat in the north of Biscay? They look pretty impressive to me. Any chance of them coming through the channel?
  9. Yup. All very disappointing...Maybe well get some monster storms to make up for it....Still got those annoying little bubbly clouds in the distance that look promising, but in fact bring naff all
  10. Well im back after cutting 2 lawns, and having been outside has lead me to believe that the weather is really quite rubbish at the moment. Overcast, very humid, but no thunder and no rain.. Still warm though. Am looing to the SW again for hope, and it looks like somethng may happen, but Ihave given up hoping today. Why do all you lot upthere get all the fun....No Fair! Just to edit: I am LOOKING, not looing to the SW....
  11. Cloudy here now, only 18.6 oC at the moment, but still feeling humid
  12. So I see. Was getting a little worried there. Hope it picks up enough to make it a worthwhile opening to this years storm season. Only a few lightning strikes, but hopefully itll pick up
  13. Hmmmm. I dont know. Maybe its because the wind is coming from the SW. LOL
  14. Becoming a little disillusioned by the beast to the south. Ignorant though I may be, but I cant hear any sferics on am radio, and there arent any paricularly substantial rainfall areas...Is it going to just be an annoying spot of rain instead of an epic storm?
  15. I cant think for the life of me when this was taken. It was a truly epic storm, that im ashamed to say snuck up on me, and I didnt seeit coming, but I made it to the clifftop in time. All I can say is that the storm was late in the summer, after July I think. And ill do my best to get the rest of the pics loadedup in the photography section soon
  16. Well I had to read it to myself a couple of times, but it did make sense in the end. Thanks, good to know
  17. Yup. That was taken at Barton On Sea. If theres a storm about, thats where Ill be. I have some more, and more from the New Forest, but I have yet to upload them
  18. Ohhhhh. My bad. sorry about that. LOL. And Supacell, your quite right. My picture was taken overlooking the sea, and it is truly fantastic to see. Fingers, and toes, crossed or later
  19. Ill keep a weather eye on the southern and western skies for you guys, and give you a shout if I see anything worthwhile, and who knows, if there is I may go out with my mate and his camera....Thats how I got my display pic
  20. Any thoughts on this lot? I see theres a fair amount of it down there, and looks like its reamaining failry steady in development
  21. LOL. Bullying the new guy eh....how degrading. Looking inland at the moment, I can se some nice cloud developments taking place...only trouble is they're inland which isnt much use to me
  22. C'mon. You dont need them all in Eastbourne. Share them round, say around the west of the Isle Of Wight?
  23. Well its looking a little more promising today. Liking the look of whats developing to the south west English Channel and which way its going . Alas we may even see something today. Fingers crossed
  24. I used to be scared stiffby storms, but as my name suggests, now I am something of a fan and usually the first to the window to see everything. I even take a fewpics when I go driving in them
