  1. Can see the Irish sea from my window and its absolutely wild. First serious gusts here in Dublin. Wales is gonna get hit very hard I'm afraid (already is I suppose)
  2. high ground in some parts of NI looks good for 4/5cm in my opinion
  3. Large amounts of snow especially in the Italian alps, they always seem to do well with southerly winds.
  4. GFS at 190 hrs, looks good to me. You'd think that a warming like that would have to condition the troposphere. What do you think?
  5. Interesting developments, look at that 1050 mb high over the Arctic.
  6. Looking at the ECM 00z run it is clear that Scandi-Russian high is going to be another of many players in the next few weeks and possibly beyond. Scandinavia and Russia are going to cool down rapidly in the next few days. Any disruption in the Atlantic will significantly raise our chances of tapping into that frigid continental cold.
  7. LP completely different compared to 12z run, northern blocking completely different, the models don't have a clue
  8. Dundalk area looks like it could get something more significant...nice streamer action up there
  9. only dustings this morning but seriously impressive snowfall intensity in some of the showers. Got one just after nine that maybe even surpassed the 2010 shower intensities...could be that March sun!
  10. It's only just started for NI. Ridiculous amounts of rain here!! Enjoy your blizzards!!
  11. will need some skew diagrams closer to the potential event, can anybody read them?
  12. Got a short but moderate/heavy snow shower in dalkey a while ago
  13. light snow shower left a very slight dusting here. I think that might be it for this cold spell!
  14. Just had a graupel and wet snow shower. Temp 1.6, upper NE wind but surface winds blowing from the W (bodes well for snow). Another hefty shower or two and it shoud snow at sea level
  15. backed up by latest met.ie 3 hr forecast. http://www.met.ie/forecasts/3hour.asp
  16. The band in the Irish sea seems to have killed off most of the puny convection that was present earlier (Dublin). Meanwhile, he latest radar shot shows the Irish sea band taking a slightly more favourable direction. Interesting evening ahead
  17. Moderate graupel here in Dalkey, Tries to accumulate but itsn't intense enough. Lets see if we get more intense showers
  18. I still think that Dublin is placed badly tonight. I'd be more hopeful if I was in Louth/Meath/(N.Dublin) or Wicklow/Wexford (and obviously NI). When the wind is due east you need disturbances/features in the flow to see anything significant in Dublin. The sea track is too short imo. Anyways, we'll see how things go.
  19. hmm I never liked E winds, only usually deliver precip to N Dublin and above. NE great, ENE the best for Dublin imo
  20. light snow grains every now and again. This day reminds me of the start of Jan 2008 when it was spitting snow in Dublin all afternoon
  21. hmmm, that band of precipitation in the Irish sea seems to be taking a more favourable track (for Dublin). Graupel showers on the way? Or it might just die out
