  1. Currently dry now after earlier rain and 0.2C and quite steady. Disappointed because I am currently in the gap between the two masses of PPN, to my E and W! Will have to wait and see if the PPN pulls W/SW as it should?
  2. Light rain here, but it's making the same sound as if its hailing (when it hits the floor), so must have some ice content in the droplets, if that makes sense at all! 0.6C here and falling quite quickly, only a matter of time till it turns to snow IMO.
  3. A real conveyer belt of moderate/heavy rain being pulled up from France on the radar. Been raining quite heavily here for the last 1.5 hours, and it is needed! Not too fussed that its not thundery yet, a good storm skirted me yesterday and we really do need rain.
  4. Despite Birmingham and surrounding areas sitting under a heavy batch of PPN at 8.30PM on the radar, it's only light rain and has been for the last 35 mins. No rumbles of thunder or lightning today either. Plenty of time for things to liven up though. Personally I think the main action will be in the small hours.
  5. Sheet lightning and rumbles of thunder in the near horizon. There is also this curious phenomenon where wet droplets are falling from the sky, oh its light rain I forgot what it looked like! Temp of 18.3C and certainly feels it. Need more rain, even the grass is dying off.
  6. At least -4.0C overnight here, despite passing cloud. A very penetrating frost too with little visible frost, but the ground is rock solid. Currently cloudy and 0.4C Biting wind too. Don't know why everyone is getting depressed with the lack of cold, its very cold currently!
  7. Ice day here today. Max temp of -0.5C and brilliant crisp sunshine all day. Frost still evident in the shade and the temp is falling sharply again under clear skies, currently -1.5C.
  8. Very chilly today with the N/NW wind. Current temp of 2.8C with surprisingly clear skies-that won;t last though. Can't believe i'm saying this but I'm glad of the wet and windy weather coming up this week. Its a chance for the roads to be washed off with all the salt and grit on them, and a chance to not be freezing when I come out of the shower! Still want the bitterly cold weather to return though!
  9. Really surprised at the dip in temps after the snow melted last night. It was roughly 7.0C at midnight last night and slowly rising. It was then only 3.1C this am. And the temp has hovered around just 2.0C today, and now its below freezing. The weather seems to have been cold, then a fast but brief warm up to melt the snow, now gone cold again! Very strange.
  10. With this less cold incursion likely to last to the end of 2010, could someone calculate what the temp would have to be between now and the end of the year for the CET to reach 0.0C please ? Hadley currently at -1.0C, but I would imagine this will rise noticeably over the next few days, not taking into account end of month corrections. I really want this months to stay sub zero, but looking at the Beeb forecasts, 6-7C looks a distinct possibility over the next few days, with milder night time temps I would imagine due to cloud. I just want to see how "impossible" it would have to be!
  11. Currently a very heavy and unexpected downpour. Prior to then it has been warm and overcast with most of the sunshine before 3pm today
  12. Only today can I say with any conviction that most of the daffoils are now out. A week ago there was only the odd few. They have been fully opened by early february in previous years and is a testament of this winters prolonged cold.
  13. Initial rain cleared to leave a cool and cloudy day. However temp is around 13C but doesnt feel like it.
  14. Bitterley cold start to the day with an overnight min of -7.2C which is even colder than when we had 5 inches of snow cover in Jan! Just a gradual build up of cloud throughout the day but very cold still. Currently 4.8C
  15. So its going cooler at the weekend again then? I saw the Beeb forecast for tomorrow and it was stating 10C for southern england etc after the snow/rain moved Northwards. Made me spit my toast out!
