  1. Ooof, gone very still and moody here in west limerick, ireland, just hopped on to see if i can see any chance of storms this evening... farmers dragging the hay in at a pace tonight.... good luck all for some stormy action!
  2. Ah lads, any chance of the storms turning sharp left for Ireland? I moved here three years ago, one reason is there seemed to be a good chance of storms here, rather than the Surrey Storm Shield, which I see now is just about invisible for strike icons! stained glass window's sake! Hope youre enjoying it all. As if I need a storm, Ive just got in from finishing a show garden at a flower show and dont need me dahlias smashed up by the wind!
  3. a few big loose flakes coming down now here in W/Lim North Kerry, we're 600m up the side of a hill facing north - hoping for a pasting so I get stuck in tomorrow - what are me chances???
  4. I've no lamp post to watch, being in the middle of nowheres - but I'm keeping on eye on the velux windows tonight. Have even parked the car down the hill so i can attempt the drive to work, well at least give it a try eh ;-)
  5. West Limerick snow watch on alert !!!
  6. Odd sleety shower, on and off. Still windy. We're about 700ft up on the side of a hill, facing north. Can still see the sky through the roof windows so no blowout here yet.
  7. doesn't sound travel quicker and more clearly through dry air? given the instability, it hasn't been that humid here, don't know about your location...? It always scares the carp out of me out here in the country as there's less urban areas to soak the sound up!
  8. we get thunderfog here on the hills in west limerick - on alert today, we've actually had no rain here for over two weeks now, but last night the farmers were baling hay until 3am in the fields around us like they knew something - it's like a scene from Mad Max with all the various contraptions tractor and lights so it is! We so need the rain, our well has dried up twice this year, plus i love a good storm we're 400ft up in the hills here looking out towards kerry, at the moment looking at radar right between the two cells of action in Ireland at the moment. lets hope the action moves up in a nice north westerly direction!
  9. Re Ireland Weather - Basically, at any given time of the year, you can experience all four seasons in the day. The weather can change minute to minute. especialy the nearer you are to the coast/mountains. But by Jaysus when the sun comes out here at this time of year, it splits rocks! I use www.met.ie, fairly accurate, but as I said Be Prepared!
  10. Ah heor lads !!!! - earlier it looked like the storm was headed our way - now it looks like it's being pulled east! watching south ...
  11. My last close brush with lightning was 2005/6, summer - I was working at a garden centre in shepperton, a storm was brewing and I was standing in the carpark, when I felt the hairs on the back of my neck go up - I ran for the shop and turned to see a big pink flash hit a tree across the road - since then that's me hooked - not scared at all, more in awe. A few flashes and rumbles here yesterday, more north of us, is that REALLY it for now lol
  12. anyone know if the irish system might back build a bit? Pleeeease!!!!! i'm about 40km south of the shannon and limerick... craning my head out the velux windows to look north but no joy yet. Gone cooler now, and blustery from the south / south west.
  13. Just like yesterday, everything seems to be firing up about 100km north of me!!!!! Feels muggier today though. Going out to move the neighbours cows now.
  14. Haven't heard any thunder yet but very heavy showers here in west limerick - come on!!!
  15. Hello stormgazers from west limerick in ireland - hope you all have some luck tonight and your cousins over here hope to get a few hand me downs lol! been a very strange day here weatherwise - the temp and humidity been up and down like a fiddler's elbow most of the afternoon, now feeling chilly here - I moved here from sunbury in middlesex a few years ago and will be watching the radars, probably feeling a bit homesick - What's your opinions on my chances over here, learned friends if I may ask?
  16. I can safely say the sky is literally glowering here - it's so still you could hear a pin drop... going to let the range die down, sense powercuts if we get a storm!
  17. just been out watering the polytunnnels - my god it is soooo still out there - see a few strikes north of us - AND I've had a migraine all weekend - could this be why???
  18. Hoping that cell off the tip of cornwall is headed towards me! Will it survive the irish sea???
  19. just dreaming this will set off a line of super cells, all headed for west limerick! will be watching, day off work and the weather is looking malevolent out there, Chickens and dogs hiding in the barn. good luck london, moved here from near heathrow 2 years ago - miss planes and storms lol!
  20. what are the chances of this making it to Ireland??? starved here....
  21. Heavy, face stinging sleet here in west Limerick, wind getting up in the last half hour or so.
  22. here in West Limerick the sky is flickering to the east, the rain is hammering down on the veluxi and the wind is now beginning to howl through the trees. Candles at the ready here for the inevitable!
  23. As i drove home from work tonight could see some big cb's about - have lain bed watching flickering skies for last hour, had to get up and have a look at the radar... doesn't look like much doing?
