John in the frozen north

I think some parts of the NE inland with a little elevation will see white stuff, and quite a lot on the hills. Yes maybe not at sea level and on the coast.

So are models ever "right or wrong"? The models just try to predict the most likely way that the weather will develop (as that is not decided in advance!) so you could have a model that does not do very well at predicting the most likely scenario but looks like they got it "right" because the most likely scenario did not happen. Just a morning thought.

7 degree drop and snow now!

1.6 degrees now - car covered in snow! - now 0.9 degrees - 7 degree drop and covering of snow in 40 mins

Temperature dropped 6 degrees in 25 mins now sleet

OK so answering my own questions here just in case someone else gets stuck on this. I contacted Sainlogic and they replied with some instructions to adjust relative and absolute pressure (which were not in the manual I had) and it works. Basically you press set and alarm for 5 secs to take you to calibration screen. Details attached. Hope that helps someone. It's a good little mid-priced weather station and with this adjustment I'm not happy.

I have a Sainlogic ft-0300 too. Working fine 24hrs in but did you solve the how to adjust air pressure issue? How does the unit calculate difference between absolute and relative pressure? Thanks John

Snowing here now - one last goodbye from the snow for now. Still tomorrow for sledging. I don't think winter is completely over even though hit will be warmer next week.

Still -5 at 11am. That's pretty unusual! Proper ice day! I know some have missed out but this has been the best winter here for quite a while for snow. Snowed Christmas Eve and lasted ages and then approx. 17cm here and cold enough not to melt even in the sun. 3 more very cold days to follow before the thaw.
