  1. Just travelled to Eurocentral and sky relatively clear. Weather station at home been recording no higher than 2.5°c with a tendency for rain over next 36 hours. Nice for us to see snow on Sunday night, shame it turned to rain by 0300 Monday morning.
  2. Had temp reach 12C in Ayr with frequent rain & hail showers, but when driving home this evening around 1730, encountered rain, hail, sleet and wet snow in the distace of 6 miles! Had temp drop from 11C to 3C in this distance. Had hail on the west side of Failford (B743) that then turned to snow through the hamlet and out the east side. At first I thought it was hail that had laid, but I stopped at the side of the road, and found it was wet snow. Showers have now died out but still have 80 percent cloud cover.
  3. Strange how the Beeb's weather forecast differs from the Met Office one!!! Looking at passage of precipitation, looks like the next shower is due over me in the next 20-30 minutes. Can't wait for later, will be lamp-post watching once darkness falls!!!
  4. Just had blizzard conditions here giving light covering. Hills to south around New Cumnock totally white. Briefly had sun out, but now clouding back over from the west. Typical Met Office, late as usual! Bring on the delicious whiteness!!!!
  5. Would be happy to give one a new home as my weatherstation rainfall reader looks to have given up recording correct measurements!
  6. Cheers Weather Ship. Link very useful and glad I snapped it when i saw it!! Looks to tick the right boxes as about half mile away is Prestwick Airport so one of the planes from there might have started the effect.
  7. Thought I should share the following pictures. 1st one is a very strange cloud phenomenom that i wonder if anyone could help identify. Other 2 were of a late sunset early on in the year taken as little as 2 minutes apart but catches the evening glow very nicely.
  8. The Met Office tend to always go 'safe', but whatever way any prediction goes, someone out there is going to hit the jackpot. See this morning on BBC Breakfast the presenters holding up the Daily Express who has heralding the next mini Ice Age (once again scaremongering!!!!!) Nothing out of the ordinary there, take it their resident 'forecaster' is getting carried away!!!!
  9. Looked at yesterdays 10 Day Outlook & was a bit surprised to see 60% chance of snow on Wednesday! Now I have seen that it has spread over 3 days:shok: ! Will try to have a look at the GFS charts tomorrow to see if this can be pinned down a bit better. For me, it is looking almost like a repeat of last winter. All the natural signs have gone the same way as last autumn, so who knows:D ? I think that probably from Sunday 12z there should be a lot more certainty on what will happen. At this stage there can be a large swing from what is currently predicted, and going towards balmy conditions (hopefully not, but Hay Ho!!!!)
  10. I found the same as 10123. Got bored of it. Could be scaremongering, but it also seems to be written by people who have it in for the Oil Giants as well. Using BP as an excuse for something that has been seen to be occurring over te last few years is a bit rash, but how would we know if the spilt oil would not have accellerated what this article is calling a total catastrophy! . Quick, stockpile the bread & milk. Two Thirds of us are going to perish!!!!!!! . What a load of tosh. All we can do is wait & see what the forthcoming seasons have to offer.
  11. I agree with 4wd. Got one that looks like this ones predecessor for Xmas last year. Works well, allows you to download to your PC and you can then customise the data to what you want to look at. You can also save the data for other uses. My ones' onboard memory allows it to save up to 90 days at a time before downloading, and the batteries I have in mine are the originals from Dec 2009! I would say good value for money!
  12. Hi all. Heard today on a radio station that some of the Local Authorities didn't have enough warning of this spell of weather to get the supplies of salt/grit in ! However it had been predicted on here since the middle of Nov! It makes me wonder who they were taking advice from. Anyhow had crisp bright sunshine here for the last few days and the highest temp has been -2.2c on the 6th. Currently looking at -12c with the dewpoint sitting at -14.3c and the station is predicting clear skies up to 6hrs out from now!!!
  13. Hi all, been bit busy last few days, but just lookied at the 12z run forecast and looks promising for tonight into tomorrow. Just to let you know lowest recorded temp for my area was -10.7c with a dewpoint of -13c last night, and today's top temp has been a warm -3.7c with dewpoint of -6.5c. Meto not updated warnings as of 10 mins ago, but that is sure to change .
  14. Hi all. Just got back from work and have been watching the clouds steadily increase from the south. Just checked my weatherstation I got for Xmas (Woohoo) and dewpoint here is at -1.9c with outdoor temp at +0.7c & 83% humidity. Looking ok for some more fun tonight !
