  1. A very nice day in Ayrshire today.....plenty of sun sadly without the warmth tho. Looks dry but grey tomorrow.. but usable weather for dog walking.
  2. Been stuck in a weather rut since New Year ! Wet, cool, mild, very mild . A lot of strong winds and bucket loads of rain... Haven't managed a cold beer sat out in the sun since last summer or had more than 2 days of dry weather. May is quickly approaching.. and May s a month that normally delivers some fine and settled weather. Having said that have booked 11 nights in Zante for the last part of May !!
  3. andymusic If we go back a few weeks met office had amber snow warnings for a large part of Wales ..schools closed on this warning. ... It actually turned out to be a very wet affair !
  4. All change today.. another wet breezy day, Thank god for setraline or i would be self harming !!
  5. JoeShmoe Kind of sums it up for me . Tragic winter for most of the UK , perhaps only parts of the Highlands would give this winter a pass mark. Despite the hype, background signals ..ssw etc Its been utter manure.
  6. Heavy hail sleet shower in Killiie just after 8pm...leaving a slushy mess on the roads
  7. damianslaw similar to my thoughts ...some gusty north westerlies throwing everyone at us Barr the kitchen sink . Heavy winter showers at 3c then brief sunshine at 7c ...rinse n repeat. Not a winter wonderland unless your in the Highlands but interesting weather..which we have lacked since the various named storms
  8. Well my gut feeling is ...we see a below average cet for March and April..not based up on scientific / model reasoning as that has been a bit of a waste this winter.
  9. Penguin16 for most of Europe those temps are typical of April !
  10. syed2878 it has been a bust for the majority of the populated areas in Scotland. We don't all eat haggis and live up a mountain
  11. Milder into the weekend dble digits likely n looks fairly wet for the next 10 days here out in the west. Hoping that we can somehow eek out some wintery weather for us south of the Highlands end of Feb / early march. A winter that promised but failed to deliver locally. I just hope spring and summer doesn't disappoint..
  12. Next 10 to 12 days look relatively mild n fairly wet for many parts...I do still feel this winter can going out on a cold note. Be interesting to see if this gathers momentum over the coming days.
  13. Northern Scotland has had a decent winter..... here in coastal ayrshire we had a 4 day period of lying snow. Central Scotland south has been a very poor winter apart from the odd localised event ( N Ireland / Cumbria) feeling mainly mild but not extremly mild tho near 20c was recorded in Northern Scotland. The galling thing is the amount of rainfall that has fallen and will continue to fall as we go thru February. The Atlantic still in charge and no matter the teleconnections ... pv split .... ssw events, we in the UK for the majority just and cant see a more wintery pattern.
  14. Drove back from Essex today....M6 very little snow only on highest peaks above Shap dusting n patches only..which was mild at 7c 1300. Highest peaks M74 had a dustimg as did hills around A71 where temp was 3c at 1500...met office got the Thursday event totally wrong. It has been a poor winter for many away from those well up north !
  15. Ross B Hi Ross..think the met have made a right mess of forecasting this event currently... Looking around the local threads most precipitation is of rain even at 1000ft in Wales. I guess things could change but I don't think the yellow n amber warnings were / will be needed.
  16. LRD If u take winter being Dec Jan Feb...than a back loaded winter is February...
  17. Gee what depressing reading...Thursday is all to play for lots of shower potential for the north no conclusive pattern set in stone yet winter is over..roll on spring ...looking fwd to milder weather etc. usual one liners.
  18. Yip need a big dose of anti depressants for the model output thread...so funny when the south say snow for Scotland as usual..like we all live up a mountain !! Anyhow I am driving back from Essex on Friday now for some snow viewing should I do M6 or A1 n across at Scoth corner ??
  19. CoventryWeather It will end up.going through France Belgium Netherlands and Germany if it tracks further south..good news for the north any showed will be of snow in much colder air
  20. jules216 More likely to get cold and snow in late February than December ! All these posts saying last chance.... clock is ticking etc. in fact more likely to get snow early march than early December !
  21. This actually seems worse than the named storms from the other week..certainly the mean wind speed feels a lot higher and cold rain smacking you right in the coupon. No wonder our mummy spaniel didnae fancy a walk....I wish the other 2 were the same.
