Well, the cold snap has been great while it lasted but it seems to be over here. I'm about 40 miles inland from the North Sea coast and we've had what I can only describe as a wintry mix of precipitation all day and a fairly rapid thaw even though temps have hovered around 1C all day with a dew of zero. None of the snow/sleet has accumulated at all and the roads are much clearer now than they were this time yesterday so this bodes well for tomorrow morning's rush hour. It's been fun though and I'm sure we'll see some more of the white stuff before the season is out.

Yes, there's been quite a thaw here since I went to bed last night and it's currently raining and the snow is starting to disappear. Perhaps today's ppn will fall as rain and this will be an end to it all in time for Monday morning rush hour. Currently +1C dew -1C and rain.

The showers have definitely died out now and the temperatures are rising - we have +1C currently.

It's snowing again in Lincoln - the sky is beginning to look like more persistent snow rather than the showers we'be been having all day. Temps hovering around 0 dew much lower at -5. What's the chance of big snow disrupting the Monday morning rush hour in Lincoln?

We've had more accumulation overnight but it's impossible to say how much as it's landing on top of several day's snow. In fact, there's so much out there, a rapid thaw would be a scary thing - probable flooding. Currently -3 with a dew of -4, blue skies with a few clouds. Radar looks full of showers.

Nothing doing in Lincoln this morning - blue skies and a very sharp frost. I've been lucky enough to have this week as leave but will be back at work next Monday morning and the current forecast for that is rain! So an end to the cold snap by the end of the weekend?

I see the Met Office has issued an almost nationwide weather warning but has singled out Lincolnshire to get nothing. Had to laugh at that. We have a few cms of lying snow and a temp of -1c with a dew of -4 which has been falling all morning, mostly blue skies with the occasional cloud. Looks like a steady thaw is about to begin with no more snow forecast here.

Well, it's stopped snowing in Lincoln now after really getting going around 3pm Current temp -0.7C dew -1C and lying snow of around 4cm. I see Metcheck is forecasting significantly milder conditions for next week. Does this match with Netweather's model output discussions?

Thanks for that. I am actually in Bracebridge Heath which is just south of Lincoln and the front stalling just to the north explains the weather I have been seeing. I would say that the drizzle has now turned heavier and does actually look like very very fine snow so perhaps we are about to see something more significant as nightfall approaches.

I am happy for you all that this has been such a snowy day but am still envious that it didn't happen in Lincolnshire. We have a light covering from overnight snow and, despite a few snow showers and drizzly rain, it hasn't added to the cover. Currently 0C and dewpoint also 0C and a light drizzle falling and possibly a slight thaw. My mother in Gloucestershire tells me they have had around 6cm and people are being sent home from work so I'm guessing this has been a west-side event. Hopefully there'll be some snow for the eastern side of the UK at some point this week.

I am happy for those in the west but a teensy bit envious that we've not had much over on the eastern side of the UK. Very light snow is now falling in Lincoln after an earlier period of drizzle but there's only a small amount lying now with a bit of a thaw taking place. Current temp -1 dewpoint also -1.

Alas and Alack! What looked so promising initially with a covering of about 1-2cm on waking and heavy grey skies, it is now sadly just a fine rain which is falling in Lincoln. :lol:

In Lincoln we have about 1-2cm of lying snow having fallen overnight. Not currently snowing. Temp -1 dewpoint -2.

It just snowed gently out of a clear blue sky here in Lincoln - most bizarre. :winky: Current temp 0.6 current dew point -3.2 current weather - blue skies with just the occasional wispy cloud.

It's snowing gently in Lincoln right now. Started about an hour ago - big fat flakes. Much finer snow falling now but settling readily on a ground which had not defrosted since last night's freeze.

Currently -1 here in Lincoln, the beginnings of a frost and a very light mist, dewpoint also -1 Doesn't look like we're in for any snow at all here but it's possible the west or our region may get a little. I have a week's leave next week and don't have to drive anywhere - the weather can do what it likes then. :lol:

Sky News have been saying that since I got up at 6am but it doesn't even match their own weather forecasts let alone anyone elses. Here in Lincolnshire, we had a bad night with ice - over 40 RTA's around the county with 1 fatality. Anyway, I got to finish early today and am home already so Merry Christmas everyone!!

Just a fine drizzle now falling in Lincoln - nothing appears to be thawing out there and my car is covered with a fine layer of ice. If the skies clear tonight, it's going to be treacherous in the morning.

It's still raining in Lincoln even though the temps are very low. It only seems to have had a small impact on the lying snow here but it appears to have created extremely hazardous driving conditions - there's a spate of accidents blocking roads all over the county right now
