  1. When will this dull boring weather change? It's been so benign for so long! Hopefully something will change later in January.
  2. To be honest, while things don't look too exciting for at leas the next few weeks, at least the models have all gone a bit wonky recently, thats better than the same old predictible charts we've had more recently.
  3. Amazing overnight frost! If only we could keep on to this type of cold temps at night and calm sunny days! still, a change is just around the corner....
  4. Finally started snowing here in Basingstoke, looks light and wet though, not settling on anything yet either.
  5. Many thanks Dorsetbred! (Sorry about posting a blank quote, I got distracted by my son). The charts are looking favourable to me, just wondering what others might think.... but I'm guessing its probably already been said a number of times already today.
  6. What might the prospects be for North Hampshire?
  7. hmmm it would appear that these snow events are going to be so marginal as to not happen at all. Here in Basingstoke all the popular weather sites that were showing snow for this weekend and into next week are now showing rain :-(
  8. Looks like things could be on the up, possible colder weather coming in after the weekend. From what people have been saying in the MOD forum it'll get a little colder, but probobley not much like we experianced before Christmas. Thats not so much of a bad thing, but anythings got to be better than this.
  9. I do so hope that something changes in the weather soon, this dull mush is driving me bonkers!
  10. Indeed! Infact, the last few days have reminded me just how fun driving a car can be, I'm an avid motorcyclist, however this isn't the time to be out on a bike, regardless how good any of my many and various bikes are in snow got bored of cars about 3 years ago and haven't really driven one since, passing that job over to my wife. But couldn't resist on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and today. Been out taking lots of elderly friends to Bingo, Pub, Golf, shopping etc and enjoying the driving, so hoping for lots more snow...think I'll be disapointed though. Possible reload at some point this coming week, but I suspect we've seen the best of the good stuff for now, maybe some more in Feb? I really can't see where they're getting their info from, as none of the charts seem to show any real developments for the next 48 hours. Tuesday onwards, indeed, there's certainly a minor upgrade and possible snow event, but for the here and now, only the very south coast between Southend and Brighton are going to see any good white stuff.
  11. Nope, but I'm all alone too! Although I now have a crisp sandwich, gosh its good! V.light dusting of snow here in North Hampshire (B'stoke) temp has dropped to -1.8c bbrrrr
  12. The forum threads go quite so I go out shopping (for what seems like ages) have some fun with the car in wide open car parks, come back home and it would seem that every man and their dog has left a post in this thread......AWESOME! Now the good bit, its bitterly cold here in Basingstoke, wind speed has gone up, very tiny winsy small snow flakes are falling but not doing much in the way of settling. Lampost, check, beer, check, laptop/internet connection, check, camera, check! All ready to do a night of exciting weather watching!!!! Have fun all!
  13. Nothing here in Basingstoke either. Are you really expecting anything to happen this evening? So far all the snow showers have fizzled out before they've got this far inland. Looking at the data, I think we've seen the best part of the snow so far. Whats still left wont thaw too quickly, another week or so of whats left, but I really can't see another reload/dumping coming at all this weekend or into the new week. Although, I'll happily be put right if it does February should be another good month for snow, when, where and how much is impossible to predict, however past experience says that things tend to get a little lively in Feb. Doh! We're missed again... http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/10209
  14. Couldn't agree more, clearly its a slow news week.
  15. Being 31, I remember quite well the winters from the 80's through to today. The snow we had in December and overnight (in the Basingstoke area) is roughly the same amount from those times in the past, but from what I remember the frosts have been harsher and the snow more intense this winter. Essentially the colder temps have lingered a lot longer than I remember, but being human, I could be wrong. In the past it would take say a day or two to get the quantities that Basingstoke is experiencing today. For this winter to be a snow quant record breaker it would have to be a)consitant all over the country. and b)very deep quantities, again, all over the country. I was going to say that "it'll never break the great snows of '40, '69 etc, but how many times over the last 18 months has the weather proved us skeptics wrong? Um, quit a bit so far!
  16. Temps dropping and the wind is picking up here in Basingstoke, looking good too if the radar is to be believed
  17. Same here in Basingstoke, seems this event was kind of blown out of proportions.
