  1. Anyone else getting that very slight hot burning smell to the air when you first go outside? Only ever experienced it before in the Med.
  2. Best chance looks like tomorrow with cloud increasing along with the temperature on Tuesday
  3. It doesn't, but at least you guys in Alberta are more used to it given the continental climate COYI
  4. Totally agree. Sun up to sun down cloudless summer days do seem to be a thing of the past now.
  5. Yep, the same here, oddly quiet even on the normally busy south circular. Also, the lunchtime sky had that wonderful cloudless, white heat look and feel to it. Feels a long time since we've had that.
  6. Annoying high cloud here in London. Just checked the satellite and looks like we might be though it this afternoon.
  7. At laaaaaast. The first really warm, sunny morning here since the July heatwave. And a nice way to celebrate the Ten Years In notification I got this morning from Netweather ??
  8. Yep, the cloud finally has much more of a chance of breaking up now the position of the high is changing. And roll on next week. Even the most curmudgeonly disliker of warmth shouldn’t begrudge us three or so days of what we so badly missed out on in the summer months.
  9. Another day stuck under the grey prison. Looked like it would brighten just now up but didn't.
  10. Ah, ok, got you. And yes, agreed. Have been less and less into that thread over the last 10 years for that very reason.
  11. What did you expect to see? Isn’t that precisely what this thread is for?
  12. At the very beginning of the end of July hot spell, when the clouds finally parted after a miserable spell, I couldn’t wait for summer to begin in earnest. Little did I know how short and miserably poor it would be for us in the SE. And as a big fan of clear blue skies and a decent bit of warmth, I most definitely feel cheated. So, I’m giving summer ‘21 one out of ten, simply for the isolated hot spell. Roll on summer ‘22, hopefully after a decent snowy winter and a cracking spring.
  13. A brief glimpse of the sun earlier had people in the park looking skyward in shock. It was soon gone and we’re back again to the omnipresent shades of grey. Quite simply the worst August in my memory for sun and warmth and that goes back some 50 years.
  14. Even in winter we struggle to get a full month of the same type of weather, so no wonder August has got to so many, particularly us in the SE. Day after day of any type of weather grinds my gears, so 30+ days of this spectacularly depressing variety is grinding them big time. Absolutely sick to death of it.
  15. Thirtieth day of suppressed temps and a grey lid. Marvellous
  16. This lack of sunshine is seriously getting to me. And the forecast is of more continuous cloud to come. Urrrgh!
  17. Great to see the SW enjoying the spoils of the position of the high; looks lovely. Threatened to get some sun just now but the omnipresent cloud has thickened again.
  18. Yet another cloudy, cool day. A monumentally poor month for the south-east in what has been a poor spring and summer. Over to you, autumn.
  19. Only the blue sky and sunny afternoon on Tuesday currently separating this week’s N/NE cloudy dross from last week’s full house of NW cloudy dross.
  20. Just had a look back at Heathrow's stats for max temps of 25c and above. May: 0 June: 7 July: 9 August: 1 A miserly 17 out of 118 days. Says it all.
  21. Is it even that many? Can only think of the hot spell when the schools broke up in July…
  22. Cool N breeze. Distinctly chilly. Heavy cloud. Zero sunshine. In August. With high pressure Only about 5 degrees difference between this and the grey tosh we get the rest of the year. I want my money back.
  23. Basking in at least 1 min of continuous sun... Incredible
