  1. Today's snow gave us our deepest covering of the winter, 7cm I welcome the mild weather on offer later this weekend but rumour has it the cold may make a return
  2. Ah well I did wonder when looking at the great looking radar if there was a catch. Stay away pesky mild sector! 3cm of snow here
  3. Plain old rain here, although down here on the coast we weren't expecting anything more from this.
  4. I'm a bit behind the times here but I though I'd report on last nights snow here in Scalby, just outside of Scarborough. Maximum depth on pathways and wall was about 1cm, and the snow lasted a couple of hours and was mostly light, although it became more moderate just before it cleared. Most of it has thawed during the sunny morning, and some still remains as ice in sheltered areas
  5. Not really, the ensembles for the GFS have some very cold 850 temps on them... ens
  6. I hope everyone is looking forward to tomorrow night Looks good for snow almost anywhere up here, and hopefully to low levels as well
  7. It has been unusually poor for many Yorkshire areas excluding higher pennine areas. N and E Yorkshire in particular have had a very thin skeriff of the snow cake so far in 2009. Lets hope Sunday comes off, although to be honest I feel we will miss out on the coast here Must stay positive! I'm sure our time will come
  8. Agreed  Barring any big surprises (covering myself here), I think the southern pennines could get another 15-20cm, with the north pennines not far behind on 10-15cms of snow. East of the pennines the totals start to drop, up to 5cms if your lucky. Coastal areas sleet and rain so no cover.
  9. I'd also like to know what members on the coast further north think about their chances (up Newcastle/Sunderland/Middlesboro' way) later tonight. I'm too low here I think for anything significant, but people seem oddly optimistic here!
  10. Me neither. Most of our paltry 1cm cover has gone now and it has been a mixture of sleet and rain since around 4pm. Like you say, fantastic if something happens later on tonight into Tuesday, but if it does I will refer to it as God's miracle! Take care
  11. Sleet/rain reported down the east coast, and Hull, already, which is very disappointing. Poor forecasting it must be said - this easterly has been a huge let down for some NE areas.
  12. I take it the same applies to Scarborough, Andrew? We are forecast our heaviest precipitation between 21:00 and 00:00, but I think it will be predominantly rain by then, right? Take care
  13. The radar looks good for pretty much all of N and NE England for the next few hours. Lets enjoy it  Take care
  14. That's great We had a rumble of thunder last night at about 01:30 in the morning, with a flash of lightning. Very unusual
  15. Only a cm here so far, at Scalby (just outside Scarborough). Hoping for more to come in the next few hours
