  1. Andy must be out there living his best life right now. Sat inside his igloo, munching through all the food he stocked up on.
  2. Easy Come, Easy Go 4 inches of snow melting away now, snow falling has now turned to rain. If only it were a month or 2 earlier.
  3. Reading through all this, a lot of night owls up through the night. Around 3 inches down here in the Swansea valley, with it still snowing. Everything thick in snow bar the pavements and roads which is strange as they havent been gritted. The tarmac must be storing more heat. As I type, precipitation is getting heavier. Working from home has its downsides...no chance of calling a snow day. Enjoy it where you can everyone. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
  4. So who's going to have a restless night, up and down, twitching at the curtains every 30minutes or so?!
  5. Temps are going to have to drop for the white stuff to fall later. Very pleasant outside in the sun right now. Feels Warmer than it was yesterday.
  6. I pretty much lurk and follow this thread through the year, have done for years and years, and enjoy the Banter, friendliness and fun it holds, but today it has felt a bit off. Personally, Andy, I love your enthusiasm and hope. Don't change what you do. They always have the ignore button available. In previous years when you have been quiet i have become quietly concerned for your whereabouts. Your very loud ramping, with a lot of hope and fairy dust, wishing for the white gold, is what keeps this thread alive at times. Granted I take a lot of what you say with a bucket of salt from the grit bins that are seldom used around here. I use what you say, along with Keith and the mad thread to read between the lines of the met office. If people take what you say as gospel then they need to look elsewhere. Obviously you, living in the mountains, will be very different to those in Swansea with their personal snow shield for example. Wales is quite a large country really, with a varied landscape. Saying this, hoping to see a few flakes myself but then Winter can do one and the Spring sunshine can bring out the flowers and we can look forward to the weather of the BBQ. My Gas bill could do with a respite. Good luck to all those that want to see some snow, and good luck to those that don't.
  7. Snow already turned to light rain here now. Didn't take long for the warmer air to move in
  8. Shower fell as snow here an hour ago, sugar coated everything. Love the ice and cold we have had, but my gas bill needs a rest for a few days.
  9. Just popped outside to let the dogs out, slip sliding they went. Like an ice rink out there, and with individual snowflakes settled on top. Actually quite dangerous, especially for the elderly. Watch out for your neighbours in the morning.
  10. I live in Ystrad. Everywhere is pretty much closed tomorrow, the morning bin collections cancelled, scjools closed, WFH guidance etc. Its always gale force winds down here at the best of times. 100% convince her not to travel.. At least wait until the afternoon once the highest winds have passed. Not worth a tree come crashing down in front of her, or worse...you need to convince her to think again. Smack bang in the red warning.
  11. Haha. It is ridiculous in there now. Page after page of one liners that add nothing...use to enjoy lurking in there, don't so much, especially since they opened it up to be a free for all. So many kids pasting one liners, using it like a chat room. Would be easier if they had a function for ignore all, then to add the handful of useful posters to my own personal white list instead.
  12. Over the last couple of years that Mod thread has gone so downhill. Use to be so informative, run to run, but a lot of knowledgeable posters seem to have jumped the sinking ship. Like you said Keith, so many one liners - pointless drivel. I am not a fan of the relaxation in the rules either, made it even worse. If you dont look at it for a couple of hours, next thing there are over 200 messages to trawl through to get to the end and realise it's pages and pages of nothing. Think I will have to follow your lead and start ignoring, probably 95% of them. In other news, still all to play for, and think it will be a few more days to go yet before we can begin talking of snow, and where it will snow, with confidence. I am pretty sure some will get it, just a matter of where the flakes will fall and how many.
  13. It is looking good, though still have 8 doors to open on my calendar so quite a way yet. However, even Mr Mild himself is starting to mention the possibility, bring it on.
  14. Though last weeks Easterly was a dry affair for us, bring it back i say. Already had it with this rain. I for one can't wait for some spring warmth sunshine, and hopefully be able to meet up with long lost friends and family for a drink sat outside enjoying it.
  15. Oh well.... The only good thing about this dusting, is there's not enough for the kids to nag me to go out and sledge away, which means I can sit and watch rugby all day instead. Let's hope the game brings better results this afternoon compared to how well the Easterly has performed for Wales yet again.
  16. I think we can pretty much all agree once more, an Easterly brings us crisp, cold, nice and dry winter days, better than all that miserable grey sky and rain (unless you're that way inclined - some folk are), but with little snow. Rarely we hit the jackpot of the low moving in from the West and stalling with a Boom and we get "Eira Mawr, Eira Mawr". These are rare, but great when it happens. Majority of the time unfortunately, the warm air pushes in and the cold Easterly is often in quick retreat, and it's snow to rain if we're lucky. What will it be this weekend? One of those rare Jackpot moments, or the usual 'so close yet so far' moment? Seeing nobody knows, I will have a punt on the lottery this weekend, and at the same time the numbers are drawn, look out my window towards the lamp post and see "what's occurin'"
  17. Eira Man, Eira Mawr was always said when I was in school in Llandysul. Whenever it started snowing with little flakes of snow that started sticking/settling, the talk and excitement of being sent home early would instantly begin, because pretty much every time it seemed - Eira Man, meant Eira Mawr.
  18. Still trying to work out if there is any point in booking Friday off work or not? More towards the not at the moment; but my mind keeps swaying back and forth.
  19. Yes, was not expecting to see a flake of snow today, let alone it settling on the hills opposite.
  20. Sleet here for me, with big flakes in the mix. Can see the hills opposite and all around now turning white. Probably around 250m up
  21. Thinking of booking Thursday and Friday off work next week...That will jinx it for all of us.
  22. Well that was an exciting day. Looks like most of us saw a few hours of falling snow, with some lucky ones having a nice covering too, to enjoy. Onwards to the next hunt we all go.
  23. See what the next few days, runs bring. Hope you're right on the money Andy. Always love your optimism in here.
