  1. going by the radar it looks like the capital will be facing widespread disruption tomorrow. Quite a development
  2. yup patches of clear sky and cloud. Its probably quite far away but it looks like the lightening is spanning across the sky not towards the ground. Very frequent and totally silent
  3. some strange lightening in north london. the sky is lighting up every few seconds and no thunder or rain. I saw this once before many years ago in southern france. What is it? Its quite a sight
  4. what about prospects for this comming week in SE?. Sorry but not overly interested in whether its snowing in your garden right now
  5. so its a physical impossibility for it to develop west, say north london? my lawn is looking so crappy i really think it needs a soaking
  6. if I correctly understand you use a "DNA" signature for the global weather pattern on a day you can find a historic match and if the match is strong enough you have confidence they will follow each other closely for about 5 weeks. Does matching dna values for days following your prediction (where possible) of this great storm still point to the same outcome? If you tried to find a DNA match for conditions right now does it point to a similar forecast, or are strong DNA matches like that which you based your prediction on so rare you dont expect to have another between prediction and verification date. you say you are 100% condient this will happen -yes?
  7. thanks guys, yeah its pretty much all or nothing as usual
  8. bit of a dissapointment for me in london to put it mildly, is there anything more to come or has it all passed for today? thanks
  9. Good old Tony Robinson! I grew up on time team and have huge respect for the guy. Just watching a program right now on channel 4 (available on their website also i think) called "Man on Earth" about the demise of the mayans and pueblo indians of mesa verde due to drought and the norse in greenland due to little ice age. Definately not sending a good message to those who insist man is to blame for everything. I'm confident i know Tony's stance on the topic of man made climate change after watching this. Quite brave programming imo: aren't we meant to forget about historic natural climate change?
  10. well i do feel a little silly that i was expecting everything to be burried like feb 09, mainly because i brought it up in every conversation today! Sounds like a non event for whole of london proper, certainly in my neck of the woods. Meto had code red for london, god bless 'em - they've taken it away now though. Pretty certain everything will be very wet and grey in the morning - better luck next time eh!
  11. all the global warmlings, not exclusively however, should be very worried by the current state of our sun. Ironicly they act so concerned about a warming planet but will staunchly deny prospects of a cool down - according to them wouldnt this be good news? Sadly not, widespread crop failures and food shortages will follow. If the sun enters a repeat of the maunder minimum we will in all likelyhood enter another mini ice age and this winter is just a sign of things to come. We should all be watching the sun very closely for clues for next winter...
  12. what are the snow prospects for london for the sunday night/monday precipitation? There's been a downgrade hasn't there? oh well. If we are forecast snow its usually the kiss of death anyway
  13. there is no sign of this precipitation stalling and returning south is there! i thought it was meant to start happenning by now. you've got to think with tonights experience that theres a chance it wont at all
  14. oh man that is such a tease. seriously tho - i knew i was a pretty sad individual a week ago, but what have i become? I'm constantly refreshing a weather forum and peeking out the window. its starting to become ridiculous. I need counseling for snow obsession because im quickly forgetting how to enjoy anything else!
  15. do you think weather forecasting will ever get any better or did it hit a brick wall many years ago? Really poor forecasting last night and tonight. I wonder if this happens all the time but we dont scrutinise rainfall so much.
  16. Hi all, just registered!.. I wanted to ask if this band of precipitation is unexpected (was meant to go further west)?.. meto have changed their weather warning for london in the past hour - they must be hoping any snow is melted by rain by the morning before anyone notices. What do you think the chances are for north london to hold onto some snow extremely small speckles of snow right now...
