  1. Some clouds with reasonable top heights have been lurking around my area for the last hour or so.
  2. Indeed, I mostly mentioned it as its one of the few regional descriptions of the weather from the met office that had been updated this afternoon when I looked, and it still mentions thunder. And since I am in the far east of the west midlands I may still get some. A previous run of their graphical rain map did have more rain overnight for parts of the west midlands than the current run shows, I'm right on the edge of the area of rain at 4am now.
  3. Met Office text description of the weather for the west midlands tonight, updated at 15:02, maintains the 'perhaps heavy and thundery' language, although its mostly referring to the north east of that region.
  4. Hail and a single lightning strike in Nuneaton a few minutes ago
  5. Of the numerous thunderstorms that have come near here this year, that one had the best thunder. Blimey as I type that the loudest boom yet!
  6. Has the Solihull one stopped already? From here I saw a few flashes, the light dimming and thought I heard one roll of thunder some minutes ago, but seems to have quietened since then?
  7. Wow, continuous thunder and rather large hail! Most impressive thunder activity for this location in many a year.
  8. A strike is showing up just by Much Wenlock. Detector also confirms the thunder I heard in Nuneaton, location of strikes looks to be Hinckley.
  9. 6 instances of thunder heard by me here in Nuneaton in the last 15 mins or so
  10. Several rumbles of thunder in Nuneaton in the last couple of minutes
  11. 2011 was very poor for hail in my location, so yesterdays first activity of the year almost beat 2011 in a single attempt. But I probably can't quite go that far since both of yesterdays hail events here were rather short-lived. The skies are looking interesting already today.
  12. Stuff seems to be moving rather rapidly on the radar now so I'm off out for a walk before its too late.
  13. Yeah its been a while hasn't it, long enough that Im getting good novelty value out of it anyway.
  14. Station 62105, the K4 buoy recorded a low pressure of 962.6mb as of 2am. http://www.ndbc.noaa...p?station=62105
  15. Thought I might have a year without hail for my location, but just had a short intense shower of small hail here a few mins ago Its mostly rain now.
  16. Im really happy with the one that has burst into life to the north east of Birmingham too, I looked at the radar at just the right time and it brought a smile to my face.
  17. I think the one to the west of Birmingham is capturing more attention right now due to its intensity. The one thats heading in our direction has not shown signs of doing anything interesting.
  18. A couple from Saturday 23rd, taken in Nuneaton looking pretty much in the direction of Leicester.
  19. Well it was only one very distinct rumble I heard, and looking at the radar I guess it was some way away. Band moved through pretty quick too, so nothing too special.
  20. Thunder heard in the Nuneaton area moments ago
  21. Looking increasingly likely that people at v festival are going to get very wet. Rain remains nice and heavy here, sounds great.
  22. The heavier band thats now almost across the middle of the country is just starting to affect me now. Its doing such a good job of moving north that I wonder where it will end up.
  23. ukasf have got a forecast out that mentions convection possibilities in the early hours for a few places, along with thunderstorm risk for central & northern Britain later on. http://www.ukasf.co....orecast/id-335/ edit - oops I was too late posting this, already been done.
  24. Im finding it quite excrutiating to watch on the radar so far due to how slowly the heavy stuff is moving.
  25. Opinions about this expressed earlier seemed to be a long the lines of maybe, more likely after midnight , but not highly likely.
