  1. Those photos of the Mournes look great. The Mournes are certainly beautiful at any time of the year and look even more spectacular in the snow and ice. They're nice mountains to go walking in indeed, just as I did last August. As far as Ireland is concerned, I think this is the end of the cold snap for the time being. I don't think there'll be any snow at all this week and temps will gradually rise somewhat as we get into next weekend. There will be some night frosts to contend with but that's about it. I have a feeling in my bones that there might be another brief cold snap (with some snow) towards the end of Feb/early March and then that'll be it really for this winter. I'm going skiing in Poland next week anyway, so I'll have some 'real' snow there!
  2. no, apart from slight risk of a wintery shower. Light rain in Dublin now and lying snow melting.
  3. The rain/sleet/snow being predicted for tomorrow will only affect Munster and South Leinster me thinks. I can't see it getting any farther north than a line from Limerick to Dublin. It'll mostly fall as rain or sleet, with snow reserved mainly for higher ground. Ulster will be the only province where the temperatures remain very low for most of the week, meaning most of the lying snow won't thaw. However, on Thursday, a warm front is expected to cross the country, bringing rain and a rise in temperatures for the whole island.
  4. 5 cms?! WOW! :o How high above sea level are you? I might go for a walk in the Dublin/Wicklow mountains later!
  5. I was also skeptical as I always take it with a pinch of salt when forecasters say they're be snow on the leading edge. It usually rains! There is about 2cms of snow here on the ground at the most. As there was no wind, there is certainly no drifting. It looks nice but there definitely isn't as much as there was on Monday night last. Still though, we're getting spoilt! It also doesn't feel as cold as last Monday and Tuesday, but maybe that's partly because it's absolutely calm here today.
  6. Here's the latest Irish weather station reports: http://www.met.ie/latest/reports.asp
  7. Falling as rain on the west coast so far. Maybe it'll turn to snow as it moves inland.
