The regional forecast shows -5 to -8 tonight but with clear skies....that's gonna feel cold! Went as far as sunday saying would be cloudier and a touch milder but BBC website shows snow showers?!!

You lucky, lucky people.....Guess what, nothing, zilch here on the east coast but that was always hopecasting for me that the system MIGHT include us but not even a sausage Also, I have just looked at the models to dream about that amazing northerly....only to find it's a high pressure now slap bang over the top of us - not good....So, hoping that the high progresses westwards on subsequent model runs....A busy day, an informal meeting with a boss followed by a hospital visit for my dad....Nice!

Perhaps but even thought the latest GFS run isn't anything to get overly excited about, I have looked at the precip type charts and it shows SE getting plenty thursday into friday - not sure how to link to this forum but you can see this in charts section - so all to play for!

Morning Steve I think GFS is not so good this morning - UKMO looks great and a better northerly....However, what do you think about the BBC mention for snow will it make it into our world? Or do you think it will die out before it reaches us?

you would be about spot on there for west kent.....I anticipate 10pm for my area - weird to think likely to be asleep during most of the snowfall...if the front stalls however, we might be in for prolonged snowfall tomorrow morning!

We will get quite a bit as the mild air hits our cold air - we will have been coldest longest and the 528 dam line does not leave us until wednesday at the earliest! Expect LOTS of snow even for us yes

Hello coastal "neighbour"!! Yep, agreed, they are only keen to know...like you say, too many things to take into account. Having looked through the charts I'd say the cold will last to the end of next week if the high retrogresses and it will stay cold up until then for us in the SE particularly as far east as we are....All in all, a radar would be useful today as I think the north sea will deliver some gifts at times today even if just snowy grains....The sea does indeed look cold whilst walking my dog I noticed that little pockets of moisture had frozen and that was two days ago!

Quite simply, fabulous! One thing though, where are you getting your info? I am fascinated. I have looked at the three main models this morning and they are juicy! After the event, and I suspect for us in the SE corner, we are looking at an event that starts today and continues until after sunday! The models also show a retrogression of the high (re-run if you like) and this will draw in raw northeasterly winds....Precipitation looks likely too and that can only mean one thing....further snowfall! How exciting...but, ELECTRIC, could you post what you are basing your thoughts on please....ta!

Morning! yes, she looked rather gorgeous too as she said snowman....lol! Was always looking good as that low travelled to France! Looking at the models this morning and it looks like GFS has backtracked somewhat from the bulldozer that it was yesterday.....I can see the potential for an easterly re-load, certainly north easterly which in some respects can deliver the wintry goods just as nicely! All to play for and all in all a good ouput from the models!

I have no idea - it certainly was mentioned - the BBC weather reports just keep saying how cold it will be...BUT disappoingly, how DRY it will be - that would be horrible - cold, no snow....? I wonder if they will update this?

Looking at the GFS it shows plenty of eye candy regarding cold with a high out to the east retrogressing nicely northwards to bring down the cold it is outside of the reliable FI timeframe and would need another four runs or so to become a trend for me....Let's see tho' for now this thread will probably be quite quiet given there isn't anything that interesting in the output other than what you have posted about lol!

GFS is showing some interesting stuff.....However even if it were to verify, coastal areas would be most affected not likely to make it that far inland (precipitation that is) Still if GFS is right and the other two main models ECM and UKMO join it - It's game on for winter's final scene in the show...lol!

Morning! I would have thought so. we had sleet here in Herne Bay yesterday and as I looked up at the clouds, they looked like the typical fluffy wintery variety lol! (Please excuse my expert cloud terminology) expect more to come and turn more flake like. i would say anywhere in the SE corner could say a dusting perhaps if streamers get going maybe more over Thursday/friday...l
