Just back from my holidays at Nenthead, Cumbrian, in the North Pennines (1500 ft above sea leve), so a good few days of snow reports follow:
Tue 21st Dec: 3cm snow lying when we arrived. B)
Fri 24th Dec: snow flurries early evening, dusting of snow by midnight
Sat 25th Dec: 5cm covering of powder snow. Beautiful walk in the snow on Christmas Day , our road was so iced up the relatives couldn't get up it in their car and we had to carry their presents 300 yards up the hill. Make a great story for them back in London...
Sun 26th Dec: snow covering persists. Sledging with the kids. My 2-year old doesn't know what to make of it.
Mon 27th Dec: snow beginning to melt, all gone by nightfall.
Tue 28th Dec: fresh snow falling , dusting above 1800ft. Very icy 10 mile drive to Allendale, road like a skating rink as good old Northumberland council didn't grit it. Snow still falling as we set off back home to London.
Great holiday.
