I had fog too, on Thursday which means 1 day of snow.

I would be very happy if the humidity lowered down to 50%.

Update: Well... I thought that I was done with posting here for this year... The humidity has returned. Higher levels... -_-
This is honestly so much worse for people who struggle with skin conditions. My sister for example...
Her skin became very itchy because the humidity went higher & the temperature is cold...
I understand why people are mad. Summer is over but the humidity has truly outstayed its welcome!
If this continues next year with humidity lasting too long... I'll be thinking about moving location.

Interesting how everyone reacts differently to outdoor conditions!

Personally for me my skin becomes quite dry when it's colder with lower humidity, but when it's warmer / humid in the summer months or even when we're under humid airmasses in autumn, it becomes smoother and moisturised. One of the reasons why I don't like cold temperatures unless it brings snow.

The UK most of the time will have higher humidity given our proximity to the Atlantic and the standard westerly - south westerly flow coming in from the Atlantic, unless we have a long dry spell anytime between April - September, OR if there is a long fetch cold northerly but they don't last long.

This year the UK has been even more humid due to the lack of any dry, sunny conditions coming from high pressure spells during the time of year with a stronger sun and cooler surrounding ocean, especially in spring. That's kept those soil moisture levels higher and in turn keeping the humidity higher. Only August has been dry with lower soil moisture levels, & most of June wasn't that humid as it was just fairly cool with a fair amount of dry northerlies - northwesterlies, otherwise rest of this year has been damp.

Overall we mostly got out this year with a few hot days and not much else, although I would say that the daily minima were a significant problem this year.

Between April and September, the number of nights that were uncomfortably warm was unusually high for what was overall such a mild summer. I lost count of the number of nights at East Malling that had >90% humidity, even in August when in terms of rainfall it was very dry.

Of course higher humidity levels are an expected consequence of climate change as a warmer atmosphere stores more moisture, but I sincerely hope this level of humidity is not a new normal and it does eventually go back down again. Not to mention the first few months of the year were very wet and so humidity will have been higher than it otherwise would've been a la 2019.

All in all this year had some nasty warm nights but overall it could've been much worse. Let's hope next year isn't hot with these levels of humidity.
