Let’s see what June has on offer for us, hopefully people who missed out in may and previous months get to see something relatively Soon.  Spanish plumes would be pretty nice in the next few months. Let’s see how many ( if any ) we get

Strong winds from a gust front from  this squall passing over Macc.  Sky blackened on its arrival.

This has just missed me towards the north of Leicester but I’m hearing it’s very wild under those conditions.

Holy moly, this has some wild gusts blowing along with a torrential downpour here.  👀Screenshot_20240604_184144_Firefox.thumb.jpg.471f770afd32bca09561fcc1eafb8782.jpg

Video of that storm last week. Not as much visible lightning as I remember going over the footage but constant rolling thunder.

Apologies for the rant here but some absolute 🤡 reporting from the bbc, it wasnt a twister-like storm or a mini tornado it was a strong/violent tornado going through a major urban area.

Can you imagine calling Joplin or Moore a twister like storm, its just poor journalism, 11 people have died they should do better.

Done ok last month with 4 thunder days (May often is thundery), but the outlook doesn't look great for June. Then again, Junes of recent years haven't been brilliant for thunder at all. Only 2020 had multiple instances.

Yeah it's looking pretty dead for a lot of this month given the westerlies and northwesterlies in the output, and I do have a feeling this summer will be much less convectively active but I would be very happy to be proven wrong.

After a very active summer last  year particularly June and July, perhaps this year will be calmer with the best of anything noteworthy for thunderstorms later July and August. Until then probably things will be pretty quiet in here. Would also be notable if this thread stayed under 10 pages in a summer month, hopefully not though!

It would be hard to be any less thundery here this summer seeing as we’ve racked up 0 storms during summer for the past 4 years.

A short stay heat spell ( 28c ) in parts of Austria today . Thunderstorms now breaking out in Salzburgerland as the colder upper air pushes back the heat intrusion from the SE.

No rain here for over a week and no indications we're gonna get any in the short - medium term, let alone a storm.😡 Same thing happens every year - we miss most of the storm season while the usual suspects get in on the action again and again. Not saying much has kicked off so far but when it does you can be sure we won't see it.👎

To be fair, the last two autumns have been pretty decent here for storms so I'm not discouraged by a slow start.

Next Sunday looks interesting. Subject to change I’m sure but the flow looks to come from the continent, so that’s a start!

With my final week of GCSEs looming I think it's time that we get some thundery stuff now!! Anyone seen the risks for tomorrow? Just looking now and perhaps some potential for some activity, especially into the evening 👀
