Any reason why there hasn't been a convective forecast today or a even a thunderstorm warning as a lot of weather apps are predicting the chance of thundery downpours.....maybe they thought we won't bother this time as we all know it will be Lincolnshire that gets all the storms as per usual lol

Turquoise Maybe there is nobody available to do one. Estofex seems to have gone part time and all the forecasters on here do forecasts voluntarily and therefore won't do them if they don't have time.

NickF is in the US chasing, Eagle Eye is poorly and Convective Weather don't do forecasts anymore as Dan has moved on to bigger and better things. I don't have the forecasting skills to do a proper forecast, it'd be guess work using the models, but I'll try.

Today is a day of sunshine and heavy showers, some of which could turn thundery. With weak deep layer shear and only slight CAPE I don't expect much more than weak thundery showers though, some with hail. Pinpointing where storms will be most likely is hard, although with a SWly flow it does favour Eastern England, so Lincolnshire would be a good bet. Eastern England also benefits from a bit more time of surface heating so that may bolster CAPE a bit more.

To be honest I'm hoping for a change in the weather so we can get proper thunderstorms interspersed with hot sunshine. April showers in June don't really do it for me.

Further sporadic lightning looks likely on this feature as it pushes east along the south coast this afternoon and into the evening. Arome picks it up quite nicely but UKV doesn't really spruce it up until it's into Sussex late evening.

Metwatch saw that last cloud too in Binley earlier, pretty cool!

Not much happening though, been out of town so missed most of the showers today. Bit of convection to the south but under a lot of high citrus from the stuff near Northampton.

Well we brewed a Thunderstorm to the ESE of us which was unexpected. The action started after it past the station so no lightning strikes observed.
