Hey @Paul today when trying to upload an existing photo, it uploads the it as a blank black image. I have to use the take photo option. Are you aware of an issue?

That sounds a bit strange. The fact it uploads ok when you take a photo perhaps points to something going on either with your device or the particular saved photo, as ultimately it's the same process as far as the software on here is concerned.

Is it just one particular photo it does it with?

Ah! Just tried with another photo and it’s ok. Must have just been that one that had the issue. Thanks!

danm Really odd. I've tried to recreate it and can't at all. It may be worth restarting your device / clearing browser data etc.

I just tried to upload a photo from my Google Pixel 6 and got an error code -200. I tried another photo and got the same. I sent the photo to my laptop and tried to upload it from there, same error code. So I saved the picture as a JPEG rather than a jpg and it uploaded fine. Is there an issue with jpg files for uploading?

Might be related but random members profile pictures are broken.

Mapantz We're making some config changes this morning which caused that, and some broken thumbnails/images on the forum, it should be all sorted soon.

Reefseeker I can recreate the issue, I don't think it's related to the filetype naming, but am not sure of the cause at the moment.

@Reefseeker - I think we've got to the bottom of this now so you should be able to upload direct from your phone again.

@danm - This may actually be related to the problem you described as well, please let me know if that's resolved too.

Paul i actually updated iOS to the newest version on my iphone this morning. That may have resolved the issue, or it may be the work you did this morning. Either way it seems to be fine now. Thanks for checking!

@Paul not sure why but this issue has started again for me:

To get round it I have to take a screenshot of the photo and upload. Screenshots are no problem, it’s when uploading a jpeg.

Please can you email that photo over to hello [at] netweather.tv so I can test against it? @danm

Thanks, weirdly it uploads fine for me. Please can you upload it to this thread, and include it in your post even if it does show as blank on the editor.

I don’t know if this is a chrome issue on iOS. I’ll try on safari

Same problem.

Is there a photo size limit in mb to upload? I emailed you a smaller version than the actual size.

There is a limit but it's 200mb, so shouldn't affect photos. It's an odd one, not really sure what the cause is. Please can you try uploading again in 5 minutes time, I'll change a server setting in the meantime.

Still the same issue @Paul

Im not sure whether it’s a setting in my photos app that’s causing the issue. Screenshots are fine, it’s just uploading a jpeg

@danm I found something on the invision forums which may be the answer - are you able to try changing this setting to most compatible to see if that helps?

Paul Interestingly, I had to change the photo storage setting on my Google Pixel some time ago from H.265/HEVC to H.264/AVC, as the HEVC setting made it incompatible with a number of devices, editing programmes etc. As you say, there may be a link to the problems @danmis having.

danm Very weird. I've changed one final setting which is about the last thing it could be server side, so if you can test again please.

@Paul that seems to have done the trick! I’ll let you know if it lasts, as the other day it did only temporarily start working again. Thanks!
