The northern shift in the models is not followed by an adjustment in the NHC track which also goes for a Texas landfall.

Beryl will have more time over water to regain strength. Very interesting weekend coming up!

In its latest update, the NHC has shifted Beryl's track a bit further north and east. So the chances for a Texas landfall continue to increase.

Not very much left on the satelight this morning which surprised me as it was looking in good shape late last night.

Yes, Beryl looks a mess this morning. She is now over warmer water but there is limited thunderstorm activity and mostly to the north of the centre.

The models are in good agreement for a Texas landfall on Monday morning as a category 1 hurricane so some strengthening is expected but we will see.

When I went to sleep last night, forecast track had landfall right at Corpus Christi. This morning it's north east of that, around the east coast of San Antonio Bay. This consistent track correction eastwards could bring Houston into play. Two Hurricane Hunter missions are on the go right now, trying to find the centre of the mess that Beryl has become.

Beryl is now starting to respond to the warmer waters with thunderstorms blowing up in the centre of the storm.

Warmer waters ahead should aid intensification back to hurricane status.

Infrared doesn't look like much, but visible seems to show a definite eye forming.

NHC still going for Hurricane status before landfall. As I understand it the problem in that area isn't really the wind but the surge.

Lauren Yeah, the barrier islands are low lying. Galveston is maybe 12 ft above sea level. Nearer the predicted landfall location Palacios and surrounding areas are maybe 2-15 feet above sea level. Freeport is only 5 feet above sea level. Predicted storm surge is 4-7 feet. Can you tell I've been googling?

Official landfall at just before 400 AM CDT, near Matagorda, so just before 10am BST, according to NHC. She was a weak Cat 1... just.
