It's 11.5c here with a high dewpoint but it still feels quite chilly even with no wind, I'd have thought it would feel warmer than this.nice seasonal feel though 😅

I think what I find more notable than the almost non-existent diurnal range is how the temperature can still rise 1°C despite there being no solar heating whatsoever due to the thick layer of stratus 😂

John88B I would just love to have a year of seasonal weather for once. More varied weather and more sunshine would be nice.

Mild, benign and cloudy to me is the least interesting of weather types. I don't want a complete washout 24/7, but a good storm or two along with temperatures that are actually seasonal would be great and add some interest, along with more crisp sunshine days.

According to the Met O's Week Ahead Forecast, next week could be as grotty as this one: 😱

In Absence of True Seasons Yep, pretty much know how you feel. Really not an easy game lol.

Had hoped maybe tomorrow might have seen a chance of some brightness, but bloomin’ phone app changed from partly cloudy to full cloud tomorrow. A never ending curse of the cloud it does appear to be at the moment. (Still, I suppose the app could get it wrong).

I’m of the opinion, too, that this is more preferable than the rain - some of the fields have been continuing to dry out a bit and the weather has been okay for some walking (if a bit chilly) - it’s just after a while it gets a bit much, and I could only imagine what things would be like with the sun coming through. This current weather may have been easier to put up with had the rest of the year had more in the way of sunshine. But that’s not to say there haven’t been any reasonable sunnier periods (such as here during January, June and, to be fair, despite the fair amount of rain there was, even October was alright for sunnier periods).

I’m not expecting to see much sunshine for the next week or so. This time of year a high tends to be the deathknell for sunshine. Hints that the high may retroregress next week introducing fresher cleaner air from the Atlantic on a Wly/NWly flow.

HarvSlugger Fifth success sunless day here and so the longest such spell of 2024, 10 successive sunless days December 2018 to January 1st 2019, one of the longest spells here. December 2018 was my dullest month with only an estimated 15 hours.

richie3846Not seen any sun here for more than a week now, last was on the 27th!

But agree that the lengthy dry break is welcome.

So far this November - 0.0 hours of sunshine. Special mention to yesterday which recorded a minimum of 11.0c and a maximum of 11.8c, that must be some kind of record for the lowest diurnal range in a while!

On the bright side, 0.0mm of rainfall. Could be worse I guess.

SunChaserWales totally weather less in other words.

In reference to your previous reply… 2022 was indeed often dull and wet but there still plenty of sunny intervals interspersed. Looking back at early November there were sunshine and hail showers with thunder on the 3rd and sunshine all day on the 4th for example.

MP-R Yeah, looking at my photos the 4th and the 9th both looked like good days. And a brief mild sunny respite on the 12th-14th really saved the month, I think we had 18c and sunshine on the 13th which is amazing for the time of year. Unfortunately my memory of that month is tainted by getting caught in an absurd amount of torrential downpours, there was one on the 23rd that was so bad I had to drive down the M4 at 25mph.... heaviest rain I've seen in my life. Nov 2022 ended up being the wettest month in exactly 20 years where I was if I recall right...

TonyH the only positive is I haven't had rain for a week, but to be honest it might be more interesting than this grey boring cloud😂

I am actually beginning to feel quite ill at facing yet more days of this interminable grey, damp nothingness. I don't know if I genuinely can't recall it ever being so endlessly dull or if it is because it comes on the back of a pretty uninspiring - and damp - summer. Either way, I certainly don't think I have ever been as annoyed with the weather as I am this year. 😠

Mizzle For such an anticyclonic spell, this unrelenting gloom is quite unusual. I can’t think of many spells like it… ie that haven’t had at least an hour or 2 of sun a day.

MP-R  if you told me that someone had purposely sabotaged our weather I would believe you, we honestly can’t catch a break and this almost feels like it’s being done on purpose.

Lets hope 2025 is the sunniest year on record
