The vile gloom has made it Czechia, and feeling chilly with it. Maximum temperature only reached 7°C here today

HarvSlugger the water table must be going down, the lawns much more firm now, not muddy at all.

HarvSlugger exactly that. Evapotranspiration rates from November to February are really low. In weather like this you're talking about losses of 2mm per week. Even in fine dry weather we're looking at less than 1mm per day. For example, Marlborough weather station recorded losses of 12mm last November, hardly enough to make a major dent in saturated ground.

richie3846 wow! so more rain will still cause Major flooding so much easier, especially here when 2023 was my wettest year ever with 2500mm

Polar low on end of GFS. Less FI than what I posted yesterday but still very FI. Harv would do well out of this if it came off, though.

Colder than average sea surface temperatures are persisting north of the UK, that is very good for us cold/snow lovers going forward❄️❄️❄️

Leaving the gym, it's not raining, zero rain on forecast here, yet everything is wet and there's a sort of moisture / mizzle in the air regardless. Peak British autumn scenes. Grotty stuff.

Makes it feel a lot colder than it actually is as well. Prime example of the sort of damp cold that seeps into your bones and is somehow colder in feel than the crisp, frosty or snowy cold.

What's causing this drizzle in the air despite forecast showing no rain? Everything is soaked. Its such classic UK autumn it's laughable. No actual rain, but everything sopping wet regardless. Woeful climate from Oct to March honestly.

We were lucky to get sunshine on October 31st because that alone has made this spell less tough to get through. But we're now at 6 days of 0 hour sunshine and counting.

There was drizzle on the car windscreen - is this warmer climate equalling more moisture? Although we do get it in Autumn mists/fog

Metwatch it's nice to be able to actually see things, see the sky, the landscape, sunrise and sunset! Makes you remember "oh I live on Earth" and not the inside of a misted-up tuppperware box

Despite the bone dry forecast and models, everything here is soaking wet. Near constant mist and fog, as well as intermittent drizzle means that things can’t properly dry out.

Stunning morning here. We've been fortunate that it hasn't been as bad here as elsewhere, though it's still been mostly overcast for the past week or two.
