Cracking day here once the early bits and bobs of cloud cleared it's been blue sky all the way and there's still a little warmth in the sun

*Stormforce~beka* clouds have disappeared as soon as sun has gone behind the trees, typical. Got to prune these trees back but suppose would need permission from the council

So nice to see some proper sunshine once again. The leaves are relecting a fab golden yellow/bronze hue and the improvement in the general publics mood is very noticable

*Stormforce~beka* fenland is very underrated weather wise one of the most dry areas of the UK high ground to west grabs most of the rain and it can get very warm in summer I'm only about a metre above sea level here so fog and mist can be a temporary problem

So, the sun was out most of the day & it was beautiful and yet both my closest weather stations, Heathrow & Shoeburyness, still recorded a total of 0 hours of sunshine according to weatherobs. I'm gonna hang up my hat for sunshine collection from now on, it's more hassle than it's worth & the data never really matches your exact area. To have a day of 7 hours of sun and see it say a big fat zero instead, especially after the past 2 weeks of complete rubbish, is the final nail in the coffin for my sunshine adventure. Thanks for the interest over the years, maybe another can take up the reigns 💪

There is an existential crisis occurring on the model output forum over a bit of snow over northern hills. I mean even as someone who wants snow, I can't really understand the hype. I'll take the sun today though as a small win (despite the fact half the day it was covered by altocumulus and altostratus).

It was great to see the blue skies eventually today just before sunset, but it was bright enough on my morning run to make me very very happy.  So good to see the glimpse of watery winter sunshine lighting up the last of the autumn leaves. Hopefully a few more sunny-ish days before the upcoming cold rainy spell!

Already cold as heck out there lately

Seems there's a colder influx incoming at some point, but I do wonder if the models were on to something when they were suggesting that November's pattern could last out into March

Not good today; only harvested 8kWh, expecting 20 or more from the forecast. Lots of high cloud veiling the sun. Lovely moon now, but that doesn't help the solar panels! The clue is in the name.

Partly in my instigation mentioning christmas in a post yesterday in this thread, I inevitably opened up christmas chat discussion.

Ive created a dedicated thread in the lounge area to discuss when christmas starts for you..

After the sunshine today the forecast doesn't exactly look like wall to wall sunshine in the next few days. Indeed the cloud symbols are back for this week apart from Wednesday. Likely that tomorrow we will see cloud blow in from the east. Very dull first half to November on the cards.

Conversely, I've already reached my November sunshine average here (about 70 hours). Very foggy today though, high of just 1.8C.

Makes me chuckle… 2 weeks ago you’d be hard pressed to find any optimism for upcoming winter amongst even the most senior of members on here with every long range forecast pointing to a mild barrage of a winter (people really do forget how bad those long range charts are esp in the midst of a block). Most were convinced  we’d be in with just a sniff of the odd cold snap.

2 weeks later and they have all completely changed their tone! don’t always follow the herd folks!!!! 🤣 the writing was always on the wall with La Niña combined with a European blocking regime.
