If you play the satellite animation, the anvil from the old French storms earlier almost seems like it has acted like a trigger for the rapid development in the eastern channel in the last 20 minutes. It's similar to what you see on the radar in the USA where outflow boundaries cause things to blow up. Might just be a coincidence in this case as you'd need doppler radar to confirm.

That’s how Storms fire - zero to heavy radar returns in 15mins. Kent Clipper, so good night.

That is some very active lightning to my south - didn't expect to see it so active when I decided to have a look

One flash to prove

Southern Storm afraid not; even if it is an outflow boundary of sorts, it's too far away from here & its strongest push would take it with the steering flow, aka, the direction that the decaying anvil is moving in (NE)

 Southern Storm

According to a wind website there appears to be a couple of bits of convergence roughly where the lightning is.  [Edit] but my goodness, those little cells are exploding!  Look at the precipitation underneath the strikes

Ridiculously frequent. This is the high energy showing itself up.

Also, just heard thunder.

It's started raining here in Mudeford, I'm not expecting much more than that, the action over in the southeast is keeping me entertained though 😊

I don't know what the models have said for tonight but the wind inland appears to be doing this:  No idea how significant that is

This looks like it's going to be the very definition of a Kent clipper. Absolutely textbook

Eagle Eye they're where my username idea came from 😅 - they always sound so incredible after traveling over the sea for at least 10 miles.
