I was going to stay up, but with that cell becoming a Kent clipper, I'll get some shut eye, if it's not too hot, got the lightning detection on, so if anything fires up again early morning, I'll be up lol

Crazy how light travels. In Ipswich and looking south and can see constant lightning ⚡. The only lightning around is the channel 😕

snowrye It's not, steering winds in the channel seem to be directing it into france. Albeit slowly! Need some action on it's northern flank 😞

Arrows1986 some big elevated clouds on that cell, probably why you're seeing it from there

Neilsouth it happens nearly every time lol, spent many an hour, on the sea wall at Jury's Gap, waiting and hoping, only to see it head through the channel, then explode into life over the north sea

Lots of flashing but seems to be all up in the clouds and no audible thunder except one rumble about half an hour ago. So no one is really missing out on anything!

Fingers crossed for all of us tomorrow, off to sleep now

These were supposed to be further southeast on the models. There's another round early to mid morning on the UKV that's more SE focused and with a NW push, could hit some places. Also, the Swiss models now seem to like that 6-8 AM storm forming in the SE then pushing off into the north sea.

I know I should be asleep... I couldn't help but check the latest to find that the southern area of the rainy strip to the west went boom just now? I can't tell if it's an outlier or not lol

I haven't got high expectations anyway, so back to the bed it is lol

lottiekent Don't think that I have heard any thunder - not yet anyway, but as you say, continuously flashing now to my SE'ly.

So won’t be any more tonight for me then? So early this morning around 6–8am time is when we are expected to have our next batch?

Got some pretty active lightning here too but as some members have said, there is no thunder just cloud-to-cloud flashes

Trying to work out if that's the base of the storm, some, inflow, or maybe even a shelf.

For us further west and inland, the models are increasingly trending towards destabilisation over Wales tonight, with a line moving ENE across the Midlands later into this morning.

Watching the channel in Eastbourne, lots of distant lightning, a few really nice closer cg's than last night and a fair bit of audible thunder. Can still see flashes from the bigger beast, and a few closer ones more to the west. New cell fired up and let out five flashes in seconds to our west... much much closer.
