Arrived back on Monday at midnight from Cyprus (which was in the mid-30s) to a house temperature of 13 degrees. I kid you not, it took us over an hour to get to sleep we were so cold. I personally really feel the cold, so even 21 has me covered in 4 layers and a blanket if sitting around. As mentioned in @*Stormforce~beka* post, I do stretches first thing in the morning which helps get my body temperature up and my stiff legs stretched, plus I walk a few times a day - this sort of exercise helps avoid arguments that I want to keep the house too warm! Evenings watching TV are in PJs, warm socks and blankets once the heating goes off at 9pm. We all vary when it comes to a comfortable temperature, that's for sure.

Edit: For balance, I also can't stand the heat in the summer, so I guess I'm an awkward so and so😅

We had a burn in mid September just before going off on holiday (to Wales) then not again until last Friday - trouble is once you start it's hard to stop as it's easy to get used to the comfort of a fire as the nights get darker. I could probably go longer without heating the rest of the house but it's not so much the cold, as the feeling of dampness in the unheated rooms, so popped it on for an hour the other morning to check it worked. Got the furry slippers out of storage but still haven't changed to a winter duvet, although it won't be long...

The minimum should be 18 for health reasons and to help prevent damp damage

Our bedroom has been down to 14C recently, today its warmed up to 16C, so I'm hoping for some warmer days to take it back up a few degrees, and hoping November will be warm too, as Keir and his crew have removed my heating support payment, it needs to remain warm this winter. Trying to hold off turning any heating on 'til at least November and beyond if I can, especially as the prices have gone back up again. Time to make good use of the sunlight wherever possible.

Stripped down our old damaged Morse Squirrel stove over last 2 weekends, replaced broken back and top panels, and then rebuilt and repainted it, lit the thing Sunday night....hasnt been out since, and bar a late Indian Summer, will probably be kept in until next April now.

We haven't turned our heating on yet. My wife tends to never feel the cold, whilst the rest of us freeze. In winter I sit sucking extra strong mints to keep warm. It looks like it will be mid November at the earliest before we even consider putting our heating on. Who needs the WFA? My wife doesn't.

We didn't have central heating until I was 18 years old and we didn't have any problems with damp. It's a lack of ventilation that causes damp issues.

Oh yeah, log burner lit as usual, don't do cold and putting another 'layer on' seems pointless and tight 😁

Tried to hold off to November, but gave in yesterday, house was 14-15 degrees mid afternoon, too cold to sit in comfortably.

A bit if heat needed in the evening.  Saving ££s in this mild spell 🙂, though not so comfortable in endless cloud with no sun warming the house walls.   Will be a shock when winter kicks in.

Not had it on once yet. Meanwhile the neighbours have smoke pouring from their chimney every day. No wonder we have climate change. I'm down to a t-shirt most days while walking the dog in this mild-fest

Been on twice, September I think, suppose the mild air with this anticylonic gloom is the only real positive, but by god it has been so dull here.

I have been hoping for some sun to go with the current HP cell, but no luck, room temperature in coldest room is now down to 11°C  and in the warmest 16°C , hoping to eke another week, reaching middle of November before I have to put some warmth on.  Extra blankets on the bed for warmth in the meantime.

I really dislike this gloomfest, but one of the upsides is definitely...my gas bill! Not much heating used this season yet. Decent house insulation, the very mild temperatures, and a thick woolly jumper doing the trick. To be honest though, I'd welcome some seasonal cold.

Haven't needed to put it on yet which is the latest ever.

Was usually a case of first putting it on during the second half of October but in recent yrs more so early November.  When I was a kid my parents used to light the fire for the first time around late September ( though one caviet to that would be the house probably wasn't as warm and only had single glaze windows).

I lit a fire but more to ward off evil spirits than because I was cold👺
