Just spoke to my daughter, who had no idea how bad things were until i called her! Apparently  shes been sleeping off a 2 day drink hangover after her shipping company were brought out by her arch rivals haha! Anyway, having spoken with her work colleagues  and a few locsls shes discovered shes not allowed out until further notice, and there's  obviously  no food deliveries available! Im due out in 10 days, my other daughter this coming weekend. Watching all this very closely. Hard to believe this follows on the their hottest  august since records begun!

Z meanwhile here where I am in Dresden you can see the Elbe river rising fast.  This is mostly because the Czech authorities have opened all the floodgates and the water is pouring into the Elbe.  We are currently at 500cm, all river traffic is stopped and expected to top 700cm on Wednesday.  When we arrived last Monday it was 92cm.

I have seen many videos of animal rescues as well as human rescues, unfortunately, somethings are more difficult.

As expected the Danube has burst its south bank in Bratislava, while the embankment on the north side has done its job (it's about a meter and a half from being breached, but the river appears to be cresting).

This is what the Danube looks like in Budapest The city is preparing for the flood of the decade. Today at 8 pm they are closing the embankments, cars have to leave them by then. The biggest wave is expected to come on Wednesday

As expected, the BBC coverage is pretty limited....indeed, downright inaccurate...

So not only has Poland escaped the floods(not), but Romania has moved lock stock and barrel into Bulgaria.

Just spoken to my auntie, whose just come out of Taunton hospital… her friend and her friends daughter were on a Danube river cruise but they’ve not heard from them in over a week… I’m guessing they’ve been evacuated…  matty40s that’s ludicrous from the bbc… their journalism is rather poor to say the least recently
